Do you request to be friends or do you wait to be added from someone else?

If you see someone you would like to add because they have responded to your discussions, or to others you have also responded, do you wait to see if they will add you first or do you initiate the add? What do you find yourself doing more, waiting to be added, or adding a new friend?

There are times I will initiate the friend request..Other times I approve whoever requests my friendship..If I initiate it then that lets them know that I like what I've read of theirs and I like the way they respond to mine..

Honestly, right now I have four friends only. That is because I don't know how to invite people to be my friends. I'm just new here in mylot and if ever I get to go around the site and discover how can I invite people even though I don't personally know them, I would. I would certainly invite people to be my friends. I must admit though, it is a bit embarassing if I would invite someone to be my friend and I would be rejected. But I haven't experienced that though. I wish I would not.

I request people that have posted interesting discussions or answered some of mine. If someone requests, I go to their profile and check out some of their discussions.
