I am a huge fan of Zombie movies so when I heard of a book called World War Z by Max Brooks I was intrigued. I have to say that this book blew me away! It is so realistic and fast paced that every night as I drew my curtains back so that the light would come through in the morning I honestly expected to see zombies walking through my back yard!
The book looks back on the worst epedimic the world has ever seen: the living dead! It inspects the private and military aspects and is split up into 3 sections (I think): The beginning of the epedimic, the mass outbreak, and the clean up!
If you enjoy horror novels you have to pick this one up! Each chapter is written in first person through a different perspective ie. character. While this may sound off putting to you it actually works extremely well and Max Brooks (Mel Brooks nephew)will astonish you with his multi-perspective first person narrative!
For another interesting read check out Brooks "The Zombie Survival Guide".
Ok, now you know mine so what's your favorite horror novel?
Please give a brief description as I'm looking for another scary good read!

It's hard to pick just one, so I'll pick a couple and in no particular order:
Fire by Alan Rodgers: This is a fantastic horror book! It's about the apocalypse and what comes after, that blends both phropecy from the bibile, modern technological stuff and other dark and twisted things from his imagination. Read this book...really it's that good.
The Great and Secret Show by Clive Barker: Okay this is not really *that* scary but it is ingenius and super cool. The basic plot consists of two people who gain insight and dark power from an alternate universe and begin wage war on each other, siring offspring to carry on this war. My description doesn't do it justice, and I'm having a hard remembering specifics (must be time to re-read it) I do remember how much I liked it though. It is my favorite book by Barker.
