alternative to iTunes software?

Can anyone recommend me an alternative software to iTunes software? I just want a basic and simple program that is able to transfer data (songs, videos, photos, etc) from my PC to my iPod, and from my iPod to my PC. iTunes is not able to copy data from my iPod back to my PC. I know most will recommend Anapod, but Anapod is kinda expensive for me to buy. If there's a freeware or less expensive software, then it will be a plus. Thanks.
