WIFI technology?

how exactly it works , can anyone explain me theory behind it , how wifi enabled notebooks catch up the internet in a wifi enabled zone?

In the wifi enable zone, there is a hardware called AP (Access Point) which transmit radio wave, When you use your notebooks which wifi enable it detect radio wave and communicate with that AP so you can connect to the internet. i think that short explanation about wifi technology, you can find more information on wikipedia. :)
