How LONG do you like to LIVE?

I'm sure most of us here want to live long. We have our own reasons for wanting to live longer. For parents like me, we want to see our children grow and live lives of their own. We want to witness the fulfillment of their dreams. We want to support them in any way we can. When can you say you have lived long enough? How long do you like to live? Do you like to live really old as in 90 years or above? Why?

I think this is a hard question to answer. I want to live as long as I keep all my faculties and I can still move without having to be helped all over the place. My mother will be 80 this year and she is doing incredibly well. She has all her mental faculties (thank the Lord) and is mobile to some degree. That's how I want to be! I suppose 85 would be a good age?!?!?!

So nice to hear that your mother is still healthy

. I think she maintains a good lifestyle that's why she's still doing great despite her old age. She's lucky for only a few people nowadays reach her age. You are lucky too for having your Mom still beside you. It's really a blessing from the Lord. I'll pray that she remains in good health always.

Thank you for your kind comment, she is quite religious so will very much appreciate your prayers! I know I am lucky to have her with me and still with all her mental faculties -that really is a blessing. Unfortunately we are half a world apart which isn't great ;( But thankfully we still talk regularly on the phone.

Unlike "most of us here", I do not want to live a long life.. I don't and am not planning to have kids in my whole life.. So I am not interested in seeing them grow up.. I would like to live as long as I am healthy.. Until all my energy and capabilities as a human are used up.. And I hope it doesn't take too long coz I wanna die young!!! I don't want to leave any part of life untouched.. I don't want to look at myself growing old.. So this is my goal: Do everything in life.. Then hopefully die by 50.. Not more..

I respect your opinion on that. You are young and there is still a long way to go. Enjoy your life, reach for your dreams and explore your life to the fullest. Nothing is constant except change. When you reached your age goal...probably, you'll look life in a different perspective.

well i would def not want to see my parents go at the same time would not want to leave thme alone as i am the one who looks after them. Yeh i would not like to die young, but not die suffering real old. would hate to make other people suffer if i am too old and need medication and attention all the time. i am a very self dependant perosn and want to die that way.

I think that's one reason why most want to stay or live long, we want to look after our dear ones. But if a person is already sickly, most of them prefers not to live long so as not to burden the ones they love.

i think it's up to the my body state.if i can't walk anymore or don't have a clear mind at age 80,there's no meaning to live in the world then.or that's just waste of time and resource. in my opinion,quality of life is more important.if i have a meaningful and rich life,i don't mind how long can i live

I like to live somewhere around 70 years and that is enough for me..later on even if we live we had to face many challenges with our health..which is more certain in present world

I think so too. Today, people's life expectancy is only 65 years old and making it to 65 is already a record. I think I would have accomplished enough by the time I reached that age.

That would totally depend on the state of my health. To begin with, I think we agree that it's totally out of our hands anyways. But I'm not sure whether I really would like to get old with some debillitating disease, where I just would be a burden to other people, or would be unable to enjoy life or, even worse, my mind wouldn't work correctly anymore.

I want to live a nice long life. I have settled on 94 for some reason. That is provided I am healthy enough to enjoy it, not in constant pain, etc. But my main goal is to see my children grow up, see and get to know my grandchildren and get to live a few quality years with someone I'm happy with and without having to work!!!

That's great! I'll be happy with that too. That's the reason why we work hard today, so that when our old age comes, we can have less worries and live a more comfortable life.

I would like to live for around 75-80 years. I wouldnot want to be too old so as to be a burden on my relatives. I want to be able to take care of myself. Also i dont wish to outlive my children. When we are very old we often suffer due to this.

Hi Heart! Well I'll be greedy and since i have grandchildren, i would love to see them grow up to have families and still have fun with them. Longer than that i'm sure i'll feel in pain but who knows?? maybe the little wee ones will play Hide and seek with grandma at 90 LOL

I am 20 years old so i can not say that i have lived enough. I would like to live as far as i have good health and i have my mind! The reason is that none want to die i think :) Life is the best think ever happened on earth!
