hi roha1V1samen. I think the best thing to start is by seeking for which languages you would stick the best with. I mean, some programming are open source, but some others are commercial ones. maybe you can start from open source ones. Java is popular nowadays, and it is portable for many operating system. perhaps you want to check java programming forums out there to see some source codes and to judge if Java programming style will suit you the best (like object oriented, case sensitive, etc). good luck. :)

hi roha1V1samen, for a start, you would need to install at least JavaSE. you can also download it from the website java.sun.com (they also have the forum), but I have to alert you that the file size is large. and you would need some Java IDE for a start. a lot of people would suggest Netbeans or Eclipse. Netbeans is great for layout designing, however, it consumes a lot of memory. I'm using Netbeans for myself and to tell you the truth, I'm still seeking for a lighter IDE that enables me to do the layout as easy as Netbeans, so you might consider trying some other lighter IDE. by the way, I also saw a post after my post, someone also suggested you to learn Delphi, I would also suggest you to learn Delphi if you want to try it. however, Delphi is not open source, and you would have to purchase it somewhere in your own area. I am coming from Delphi background too, but lately I switch to Java programming because the Boss just wanted to go open source. both Java and Delphi have big communities out there that would be able to provide some tutorials. some people would find Delphi codes style better than Java style. Delphi is not case sensitive, for some people Delphi source code is more readable than Java. you might want to consider that too.

There are a couple of things u need to think on before deciding which language to code in. - First of all find out what kind of software you want to build. I am a .NET developer, and ofcourse i would suggest you to go for C# coding. Infact, if u want to go for a complete, platform independent language, then you even have Java. - Find out what are the actual needs that your customer wants. Each language has its benifits. It would be nice if u could explain what kind of software you are developing. -More than the language, you need to think on the architecture and the design. You can choose any high level language ( preferably object-oriented-languages). More than the language, the architecture plays an important role. Hope these inputs are of some help to u. Good luck buddy! Do let us know which language and architecture you will go fo.

You are right about programming, every man and his dog seems to have created their own language, and it can all be very confusing. I started by learning something called QuickBASIC, the new version is FreeBasic and is for windows and linux. The advantage is that it's simple, but nobody will pay you to do anything in it and it's not object oriented, so not a real career choice. Also, web languages like PHP are useful and fairly easy to learn. I admire your dedication to learning English, it's very good and definitely better than my Spanish is :). One thing I might suggest, only capitalize letters at the beginning of sentences and proper nouns (specific people and places). Don't Do This, It Makes Things Hard To Read. Good luck programming.

that is really good thinking... one must know what to start with. i am a programmer myself. i recommend that you start with C and then carry on with C++. these languages form the foundations of programming and are quite easy to learn. you could then go in for LISP. there is an opencourse ware at MIT that deals with it. if you need any help or have any doubt you can always email me at nsalgaocar@gmail.com ...... i'll respond as soon as i find time. you can also stay in touch with good programming blogs. i don't one of the sort but if you have an interest in computers you can visit............ http://n-techzone.blogspot.com/

First determine what type of application you want to develop. It it web-based? Windows-based? It is intended to run on different platform? For web-based applications you can study Java, PHP, mySQL. For windows-based, you can use visual C#. For cross-platform applications use Java.

Hi, I'm a programmer also and I'm using Visual Basic. Actually most of the response is correct, you should choose whether you want a open source or commercial one, then decide what OS. Then considering what software you are going to develop and also your resource. Why resource? Yes, because it will be a burden if you develop a .Net software using P3. I know the computer price in India should be affordable, but just in case. Visual Basic and Delphi is a good choice to begin with. Java is quite popular nowadays, but it is slower than VB or Delphi. Visual C++ is really powerful, but it is more difficult than VB or Delphi. Hope this help :)

first determine what programming background do you have, what is your system environment? windows or linux or mac? try to learn programming language that suitable for you, if you have pascal background use delphi, basic - visual basic, if you want to develop application for many environment, you can use java
