Children of Bodom: Chaos Ridden Years DVD

It is one of their many many shows, and so they have developed a formula for pleasing the crowd. It is the only DVD I have ever seen of them, so I thought it was good since I have nothing to compare it to, but if I had seen some of their other DVDs or been to a show of theirs, I would probably feel the same way as you do.

Now that you mention it, it reminds me of those 80's bands also. I will check out that DVD set soon because it sounds great.

Well, I just feel that some of the stage anthics were quite average, like the car in the middle of the stage with Alexi climbing onto it to perform some solos...it made me remember those cheesy 80's bands. I have their Tuska Festival 2003 set, you can find it on eMule, now that's the way I like to see Bodom performing live. Check it out, if possible.

You have to watch it. Go to a dark room with a big TV and great sound system and watch the whole concert. It is awesome. When I first got it I only watched the first few songs, but then a couple weeks later I was bored so I watched the whole concert from start to finish with my seven speakers turned way up and it was kickass.

Well, I've watched many CoB concerts to date and I don't think I'll be much impressed by this one due to two simple reasons: a) I assume most of their current setlist is based on the new album, and I think that'll work as a turn-off. b) A finnish band releasing a live DVD contaning footage recorded in Finland is just culturally plain wrong :P But yeah, I'll give it a go this weekend and will get back to you on this matter.

I bought the DVD the day it came out, and it is good. The sound isn't as good as the music on their CD's, but that is to be expected since it is live. The quality is great and the many different camera angles help make it awesome. It also has some cool music videos that rule.

It contains a ton of cool stuff. The main feature is the live concert which is over an hour and a half long and is awesome. There are also about 6 or 7 music videos, some random pics of the guys, and 3 documentaries. It is a great DVD.

It has some interesting documentaries from the tour on it, so that might help you with your decision. It is a bunch of interviews with the guys mixed in with clips of them getting drunk and fighting, and Alexi got arrested for pretending to be a street musician. It was pretty funny.
