I've recently been thinking about finding someone in my area to drive back and forth to work with (its a rural area so i have fewer people to ask) What are the pros and cons of carpooling? I know some pros are: Save some wear and tear on the vehicle if you take turns driving Cost of gas is a bit less Company to drive better for the environment Cons are: having to make sure you're on time always cause someone else would be late too (im bad for waiting a few extra minutes to leave) not having a car to use on days u go with someone else depending on someone else not to run late. are there any other pros/cons?

i give people a lift if they need the ride but i don't like regular riders as they are a problem with me..back seat drivers? the worst...also one man i gave a ride with was a diabetic and i know they don't like the cold but here in Michigan it was cold one night..and we got in the car and the car was all icy and i started the car and he was screaming at me "get the heater turned on..turn the heat up..turn the heat up" and the car was just started up..so i did turn the heat up but not the blower..and he screamed turn the heat up..turn the fan on..so i did and it blew COLD air until the car heated up but this guy was going nuts as you would think he never knew a Michigan winter? and he lived right by my house..so i never offered him a ride again..ever..as he was both stupid and rude... another guy just told me everything i was doing wrong in driving..and it made me actually drive worse as he was distracting me...i should have just kicked him to the curb and told him to walk...but maybe next time i will...as he is a jerk guy who thinks everyone on the road is driving stupid BUT him...so NO to carpooling ..i don't want to wait for people to come and get in and no i don't want the conversation and I will pay for my own gas..but lots of people freeload...one women yelled at me cause the air conditioners were faced in my direction...so i told her too just move the vent towards her..she was so rude and bitc****y...so i should have kicked her to the curb too..but that is life when you try to be nice..but i did give a few ladies a ride and that was a joy but that is not the common case...that is one in a million but the average is

I feel it only really works if you find someone who works at the same job as you or very close to you. Cons: Sometimes they may ask you to take them somewhere else after that. Or if you the passenger you may need to go somewhere after work and you can If you have kids it's good to have a car in case of emerency. They might not wake up and you are stuck without a ride Pro: The prices of gas are not going down. If your not the driver you defently save on car insurance. It might encourage you to be on time more often because you realize that you are making someone else late too.

The lady that i've been talking to about it works about a block away from me. She also lives a half mile north of me (closest neighbour) It'd be hard to carpool with the other two people from work because they both live with in a block of the office. One thing i do save is parking because i've been allowed to park on the street in front of their house rather than parking in the metered lots close to the office. I don't like the idea of less freedom...i don't have kids so thats not too bad. AS for "late" I deem myself late if i'm not 10 minutes early..so i'm typically on time for work by the start time but occasionally miss by my own standards.

Carpooling means savings on fuel and emissions, as well as company on the trip. But it means less freedom.
