I can forgive small mistakes and and decisions that are truly non-malicious and unintentional. But a "true" friend, or a best friend, is someone that you have placed a lot of trust in. If someone is truly your friend, I don't think that they will "mess you over" in a major way. If they do, then I wouldn't consider them to be worthy of my trust and friendship. As we get older, we tend to be more careful about who we consider to be true friends. It's not like high school anymore, where your "friends" were what made you fit in and seem popular. Now we can be choosy about our friends.

Well, your friend is your friend no matter what. Even if he or she has done you wrong, deep down, you really need to forgive them. I know it sounds hard to do and it is hard to do, but you only have one life and very few true friends in that life.
