I realise at the weekend that since i started drinking alcohol 28 years ago, i have never went more than a week without getting drunk!
this scared me, but not as much as my Liver who sent me a begging letter....
"Dear axle
can you please give me and my cousin the Kidneys a break from alcohol.
30 days would be lovely.
yours sincerely
Lionel Liver & Kenny Kidney."
I am now on day 4 and feeling the pressure already! lol!
i do not expect to last the 30 days (especially as my wife is coming up to her time of the month!) but i can look back to giving up smoking. i did not put pressure on myself and now i am 1 year this month without a cigerette.
does anyone have any tips to stay of the drink?
thanks in advance.

For me it took my Lithium Medication after being diagnosed Bipolar, I would have tons of Drinking Binges and now I have no cravings, its a relief too. Do miss the no inhibition part some days though.

The main thing is to keep your self busy doing other things. You also have to take a look at why you were drinking. One thing to do would be substitute water for the alchol. Every time you want a drink have a glass of water. Leaving the alchol behind is way easier than the cigerettes.

It's great that you're giving up drinking! Drinking can be so detrimental to the body. I don't think people shouldn't ever drink, but if you get to the point that you're past "in moderation" then it's best you just stop all together!

Your weekend must be over by now, axle, so how goes it? Did you make it through without a cocktail? Please let us know how it's gone, darlin.

Hey, rintintin and I both use an alternative, darlin, and we have a few brain cells left, so why not? You're being very strong, though, darlin, so keep it up. Isn't it amazing what you can do when you put your mind to it?

Firstly I want to say congratulations for making the first step. I do not have this problem however I have heard other people succeed through the 12 step program. Good luck.

having never been dependant on the numbness it lends, i cannot fully empathize with your situation. but i do offer my support in yer endeavor and wish you all the luck and strength you need to succeed. if it helps any, do not look at 30 days.. look at JUST today.. and tommorow, again.. look at JUST the day. and if the urge and want starts to overwelm.. focus on JUST that hour, search for something to release it. work out, go someplace and scream at the top of your lungs.. whatever, find yer own. the moment WILL pass, and you will still be on the right track! best of luck to you
