Question for Obama Supporters

Is it just me, or does it seem like Obama receives more personal attacks than any other presidential nominee?? Every time I think one of the lies about him has finally been completely debunked, someone has to prove me wrong by saying "Well, he's a Muslim", or "He's not patriotic". What's even funnier is that people are bringing up guilt by association now. They can't find anything to harp on him for, so they find someone he's close to that's screwed up and harp on him for that. As if he has control over what other people do?!

Seeing as he's the biggest threat to McCain, the Republican media has no choice but to resort to that. It's always like that in politics. However, what's more annoying than the propaganda is the actual people who fall for it.

I know, I can't believe people on here still believe the whole hand over his heart thing about the pledge of allegiance. In one of the posts someone even posted the snopes article debunking that one as a source supporting the myth that he didn't put his hand over his heart for the national anthem. I couldn't help myself, I laughed.

Nope, it's not just you, not at all! I can't believe we're still hearing about Reverend Wright. Sean Hannity, who proudly has as guest stars on his show the likes of D1ck Morris (who allowed a hooker to listen in on his conversations with then-President Clinton) and Newt Gingrich, who was carrying on his own affair with a staffer one-third his age while he was pushing to have Clinton removed from office, has been harping night after night that Obama should give the date of every service he attended so they can check and see what the sermon was about. He doesn't have to prove anything to anyone, in my opinion, it's nobody's business what church he goes to or who his pastor is. It's that old double-standard that always applies when the other party has no chance of winning on the issues.

Have YOU seen the tapes of the entire sermons? Not just the part that's been played over and over again, but the whole thing? I'm NOT defending this guy's comments for one minute but if you'd heard the whole thing in context it doesn't sound quite as bad. PLEASE don't jump on me for that, I'm still not defending him. Anyway, how can you claim to know what was in the minds of the worshipers? I honestly don't care about this issue and I'm so sick and tired of hearing about it. Where I come from priests and ministers come and go but people stay with the same church for generations. We once had a minister at our church that my parents didn't care for at all but we didn't change churches, we stayed because of the people there.

Annie,
I asked you a question in another thread that for some reason I can't find my way back to and since it was someone else's thread I will not be notified if you answered. Since this is a newer and therefore easier thread to find I will ask it again here.
Since you are being so obtuse about them, have you even really watched these clips? I don't mean just watched about 10 seconds and then blow it off as just another republican attack, but really watched the content of the tape. Try to take your eyes off of pastor Wright and all of his gyrations and look at his congregation. What you will see is not the actions of some folks hearing this type of sermon occasionally or for the first time. What is obvious is that these people are used to this type of diatribe and obviously with their claping and laughing and jumping and carrying on they totally agree with what the man is saying! These are not just random "once in a blue moon" sermons these are thoughts and ideas that this man spouts Sunday after Sunday after Sunday! Obama insults the intelligence of every American when he says "he didn't hear" or "didn't necessarily agree with" pastor Wright! Some change!

I do not live in US and I'm not Us residents. However I watch news everyday, and all channels talk about US election, they all talk about candidates. And I like Obama from the first time I see him on TV. I said if he is US president, wow all the wars in the world now will be finish, and he might make the list of people or country hate US less a lot,

It's not just you lisan. I have made it known that I am a supporter of Obama and even volunteered for his campaign here in Illinois, and it seems that every time I answer a discussion regarding Sen. Obama I get called a "Clinton Hater" or have my words twisted, it almost always turns into a confrontational discussion even when I am just trying to clarify facts or state my opinion. I think it's all a sad reflection on the state of politics in this country. I don't understand it, but for some reason when it comes to Obama no matter what you say or do you it doesn't matter, there's always a negative spin or comeback for it, damned if you do damned if you don't. It's crazy.

Second time in two weeks somebody has been responding to me at the same time I am responding to them on another discussion!! LOL As far as the ranking goes, I guess I really hadn't noticed, but now I'm curious as to how the heck that happens when it seems the only responses I get just leads to more defending my positions. LOL

Number 1 in the politics category, congrats! :D
But back onto what you were saying, I can truly relate to you. I'm also a supporter of Barack Obama and I constantly get insulted for it. Just right now I got into an argument that started off smoothly and ended with the other person calling all French people egotistical (I'm French) and claiming I was a very immature individual since I'm only 15. Now, I was not offended by the words but rather by the strong display of hatred.

I live in Utah, and I'm a mormon who's liberal - so I'm ALWAYS on the defense about my position. So many people here ask me questions, luckily it's turning into curiosity more than "you're wrong and I'll prove it". Since Mitt dropped out of the race a lot of Utahns are actually considering Obama! YAY!!!

I have to give the Rep's some credit, they've united behind a candidate the majority of them don't like and now they are putting up a good fight making it seem like Senator Clinton is even close to Obama in the primaries (as Obama nears to 6% now in the polls in Penn.)
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/pa/pennsylvania_democratic_primary-240.html
The Republicans know that because of Bush the only chance they have is to fracture the Democratic Party hence the futile character attacks on Obama and Rush Limbaugh's call to vote for Clinton. The Republicans can't win this election, they need the Democrats to lose it.

Rodney,
The people that say Obama is far left also say McCain is a liberal (which is ridiculous). The problem is you are getting your information from the far right. Try living more in the middle. I visit websites from the right and left and I do my homework before attacking other candidates.
I would not be so cocky about the general. Once the Dem's have a nominee all these new voters, Dem's voting 2 to 1 in the primaries compared to the Rep's. McCain can't squeeze a dime from the far right meantime Obama has small contributions from March totaling 40 million. If Republican's think they have it in the bag then I am glad as they won't be ready for the general. It'll be a good, tough campaign but thanks to W the Dem's have the ball and its theirs to fumble or score.

And lose it they will! They have two candidates at each others throats and neither of the two would know the truth if it hit them in the face! One is depending on the political machine that got her husband elected to two terms and the other one has the other half of the democrats mesmerized with his silver tounged oratory skills! He talks and everybody listens glassy-eyed, at WHAT? Nothing, absolutely nothing of any substance other than "change"! Change to what? You see, that is what he is NOT telling you!

I think he does get attacked more than anyone but as long as its for the right reasons ( not racial), everyone has the right to express their concern.

You say that that the lies have been debunked, when?
Has the lie where Barack called himself a Constitutional Law Professor at the University of Chicago, been debunked.
How about when he claimed that he was born because of what happen in Selma in 1965 even though he was born in 1961.
How about when he said that JFK brought over his father from Kenya to go to college, even though JFK had nothing to do with getting Obama Sr. over to the USA.
All lies, never been debunked, and I never used the word Muslim, patriotism, or Rev. Wright. I did not use what someone else said about Obama, Obama said everyone of this statment. Maybe Obama cannot control his own mouth, I do not know, but maybe it is his own fault for this personal attacks.

Jormin I went on to your websit that you claim that debunk my statment, I guess that I am stupid because I did not find anything that Debunked the statments. The problem is that Obama did say want I have wrote. The quote about him being a Constitutional Law Professor he said it durning a campaign speech. Both the Selma, and his Father where at a speech at the Selma church. Sorry Jormin but he did say it, it is on video.

More debunking for you:
http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/saywhat.asp
http://www.factcheck.org/askfactcheck/was_barack_obama_really_a_constitutional_law.html
What McCain supporters are trying to do is keep the general public away from the real issues of this election. The economy and the Iraq War. Two issues John McCain has either been wrong and confused about or knows nothing about.
Is Al Qaeda in Iran? It seems either McCain is confused about it or wants them to be.

It's just you and other Obama supporters parroting what Obama himself says. He thinks he's being attacked all the time, no matter how slight a comment may be. You know, I think there is a psychiatric diagnosis for that.

Yeah it really is rediculous. I support Obama and think he would make a great president and really i just think everyone sees him as the biggest threat, so the intentionally try to find something that he's done. I mean his dad is muslim, so what? that doesn't make him muslim. and just because his pastor has views that most a lot of people wouldn't agree with it doesn't mean that Obama beleives it. But to answer your question no your not the only one.
