When I go to the library, I just "follow my nose," that is, I find books that I like and want to read by browsing. I used to be overwhelmed because there were so many books to choose from, but then I realized those books would be there the next time I went and I didn't have to choose all of them at once. Now I pick up a few, whether I know they're the exact book for me at the time or not - I can always return them and get something else.

About finding which books you might want to read, you might want to ask yourself some questions. First, what are you interested in? Are you reading for fun or for information? What level is your reading? If the reading is for fun, ask yourself what type of book you might like. Would you like to read about romance, thrillers, adventure or other subjects? If you are looking for specific information, then ask the librarian or look up the subject on the file system whether it be a computerized system or an older paper file system. Then you will have some specific titles to look for. If you are still not sure, then start with something that looks attractive or take out more than one book and read part of it to see what it is like. The more you choose and read, the more you will know what you might like.
