too much TV

I don't know about anyone else out there, but sometimes I feel like I watch way too much TV! I became a reality show junkie a few years ago because I couldn't stand the fact that your favorite sitcoms would run 3 or 4 new shows then 3 or 4 reruns. Atleast with reality TV you got all new shows each week. But, then I started feeling like it owned me. I couldn't make any plans on "this" night because "so and so" was on or "that" night because "this and that" was on. Thank God for DVR's! The problem I face now is, I think I watch way too much TV. After dinner we naturally gravitate to the couch and hunker down for the night. By 9pm my husband and I are sound to sleep! WE don't have any other interests or hobbies and I fear it may be zapping all of our energy. I'm thinking it is time for a lifestyle change. Have any of experienced this and if so, what did you do to get yourself out of the RUT?

I watch a lot of TV at night. Now that Thursdays CBS shows are back on it is one more night of TV. I do not put off places to go or things that need to be done because of TV though. I know people who watch TV all day long and nothing else. No housework or anything.
Bruce and I have added walking around the block to our nightly schedule. Every night after supper and the food is put away, we put on our jackets and walk around the block. It takes away from the monotony. If I am watching TV, I am ready for bed at 10 pm whether the show that I like is on or not. Getting the fresh air seems to help with that. Last night it was 11:15 pm when I went to bed.

I used to enjoy watching reality TV shows too and they did take up a lot of time. I have now been without a TV for about 18 months and I don't miss it. Now I would not have time to watch TV if I had it.
I also thought the quality of the shows on TV made it not worth the money. I have better ways to use my money and I love to read and listen to the radio. With radio and the internet I get all the entertainment, news and information I need.
