is it really important to have the complete set of the Harry Potter books?

When JK Rowling was able to have her "Harry Potter" story published in Britain a few years back, it was not really an instant hit. Not until Scholastics picked it up and started marketing it. And then boom! Now, Harry Potter is widely known. The books are even translated into different languages. And the clamore for Harry Potter wouldn't stop. Making JK Rowling one of the wealthiest woman in Britain!
When I started reading Harry Potter, I got hooked. I was able to buy up to the 5th book. However for the 6th and 7th books, my friends are able to buy it first and I was able to read those two books without buying them.
Now, I was thinking of buying a copy of the 6th and 7th book for myself. But then I was also thinking, why do i have to buy it when I have already read the two books already?
So what do you think? Is it worth it to have the complete set?

Well if your a collector like me it is. If you dont feel the need I wouldnt worry about it. I was lucky some lady had a bunch of good educational books she was giving away and when I picked them up she said I was glad you said you had kids I threw in the complete set of harry potter books for them. Very nice of her to do for someone she didnt even know. I hot 3 boxes of some really good books.

well, i cannot say that i am really a book collector but i do have a lot of books.... i don't usually give the books away, i put them in my own mini library in my room. i guess, buying them would really be a good decision.

I believe it is absolutely worth having the complete set. Over the summer, I usually read all the books over again, and usually pick up on small details I missed previously. I've reread all the books several times, and they never get old.
If you enjoy reading books a second, or even third time. Then it's worth having them.

yeah, i kind of read the books over and over again...especially if there are no good books out at the time that i have nothing to do but read... usually during the summers do...
most of the people here in my lot are voting for me buying the two books to complete the set, and i am inclined to do that one....
thanks for the input...

i never thought to own the complete set.i usually borrowed most of the books.
if you have read the books theres not much necessity to own them, unless, you will be reading them again and again. whats important is if you have read all in the set.you may own them if you take pleasure in doing so.
have a good day buddy.

If you really like it, then buy it!
Everyone may be fond of something, for me,I collect all the books concerning Audrey Hepbum although I can find more details from the internet,I just love it, I want to hold the book, see it before sleep.
That feeling is amazing,so,I do recommend you to buy it!

thank you for that insight. i am more inclined on the buying side. so knowing that there are people like me who would buy the book because they want it eventhough one has already read it, then it's a good feeling.
book readers/lovers really need to bond together!

If you really want to.. do it.. As for me.. I like to collect books.. So I buy books as frequently as possible.. It not only serves to add to the collection but also helps me in keeping a smile on my face.. The reason is that I like read old (already read) books when I am sad.. You know Old friends are the best.. If you are like me.. I would say Go for it..

that's a different way of looking at books...thinking of them as your friends...it does do the same with me, because whenever i am just at home, they are the ones that stay with me...
that's another point for the "buying the book" team!

Yes. It is very important to have the whole set if you read them. Because, they are a good piece of writing. Other than that there are many instances that in the further books, there has been reference to what has been done in the previous books. Its worth a collection if u have a hardback copy of all the books.

I don't know about anybody else but having a complete set is important to me especially if I want to re-read them.

You now have the first five books and I think you should buy the remaining 2. I mean, if you really love the bloody Potter adventures, then there is no way you should be restricting yourself of buying the two remaining helping of Harry Potter.
50 years from now, I think you would find yourself fortunate to have completed the set, as it will surely be out of print by that time.
At least by then, you would have them as a priceless collectors item.

If it was me, I would buy the whole set. I LOVE the series, expecially reading them over and over again.... This way you can find mistakes that the editor didn't catch ^^. (*cough* 2nd book and 5th book). Anyway, Just buy the rest and complete the set, pile all the books up and admire yourself for being a dedicated fan.
