Do you know of any children's books were the main character is home schooled? Were a home schooling family. My younger son is 5, the age most children start kindergarten. I can name at least 2 dozen books for children his age that are about going to school, the first day of school, etc. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a book for this age group about being home schooled?
Thanks in advance guys :)

Are you considering home schooling your kid? :) Just wondering because I've never really gotten why some people want to do that? Maybe you could explain the reason...

We've been home schooling for about 8 years now. My eldest is an adult now, but home schooled from grade 7 until graduation.
There are many reasons families decide to home school, and I won't pretend to speak for all of them. Originally I pulled my son from public school, after years of fighting with the school for his special ed services (he's dyslexic), I decided I could do a better job at home and skip the fighting. After my experiences with my eldest, I realized how much I enjoyed & how much he thrived home schooling. Each of my children have one on one instructions, and plenty of time to explore independently. When they need extra help or extra time on a subject, there's no reason they can't have it. When they breeze through a subject, nothing holds them back from moving onto the next.
Of course it's not the best fit for every family, but for our family it works perfectly.

Sure I can understand some of the benifits, but aren't you ever worried about the fact that your children are never around other children? Dosen't it affect their ability to function socially?
