Rebecca - do you prefer the book or film?

I first remember watching the film years and years ago one Sunday afternoon when I was about 13. Normally I'd turn my nose up at black and white films but Rebecca really caught and held my attention. It wasn't until about a year ago that I got round to reading the book. I found it a really enjoyable read though a little of the mystery and suspense was gone as I had seen the film, though it wasn't all ruined as I only really remembered the general gist of it.
Overall, I think I enjoyed the book more than the film as you get into the thoughts of the new Mrs DeWinter a lot more, though I think I'd rather watch the film again than re-read the book.
Which do you prefer?

I love to read the book before watch the film. For example, when I read Ayat-Ayat Cinta it's more excited than watch the movie.

I think reading the book is always better than the film though in this case it is a beautifully made film/ I have lost count how many times I have read this book and seen the film. "Last night I dreamt that I was back at Manderlay" _ the only first line of any book I can quote lol. If you enjoyed this I can recommend "My cousin Rachel" by same author. Rainy day reading if ever there was.
