Program to monitor what kids write on the computer

Hello My lot members I need some advice and help. I don't know anything about computer. My teenage son does a lot of communication via computer. I don't have his password to his email account or myspace. Yet i want to be informed because he has expressed he is depressed through one of his myspace post. What can I do? I saw a program at one of the office stores that claims when I download the disc I can read and see everything that was typed on the computer. Is that for real or just a false claim that will cost me big bucks. The program will cost me $99.00 that is a lot of money and lots of typing on mylot to recover that.
