I heard this once from my mom. But it went something like, "it's not your fault if you were born poor, but it is certainly your fault if you die in the same condition."
Pretty much like what you wrote, it's just that the point is not about getting rich or richer, the point is that in whatever impoverished situation we may find ourselves entangled with - financial, emotional, physical, career, relational - there is always a way beyond only if you wish to, and work yourself away from it.
It's more about the quality of life I guess. Not just skyrocketting from being a destitute to becoming a billionaire. I think life is larger than that.

I strongly agree with Kulaskulasito. It's not the quantity of money or richness we can acquire, it's the quality of life that we can live up to.
Cheers!

Nah, not exactly that you are wrong metalmonkey, it's just that I thought I was offering to put the saying in perspective, that's all. I dread the idea that I control a monopoly of truth. I mean, there is also a truth to what you said. It just that we can always enrich our views when we lay what we think in a dialogue. No one is wrong or right. We are all trying to get right, getting there I mean.

I agree. Our destiny lies solely with our own choices and our own hands.
It is not measured by our past and not even our circumstances in life.
If I were to make a choice and to do something about my life, that is to
pursue not only my dreams but my chosen life.
Our past is not equal to our future if we only put our thoughts, actions
plus our determination and persistence to change our life and state of
life today.
Cheers!

Its true for me, since we have all the reason/ or ways to uplift our condition as long as we are eager and willing to hurdle all the trials, obstacles and challenges that will block us in reaching our goals! Its not easy but it needs right attitude and determination in pursuing our dreams!

I totally agree with this statement! Being born to a poor family is not our fault. This should not also be the same reason why we choose to live a pauper's life forever. We have to persevere and work really hard to alleviate ourselves and our family from poverty.

yeah! haha! thats true..i believe in that line. there's already a world in here when we were born...and it is not our fault. but..we have a choice to be or not to be in a situation we do not want. we are given the fredom to do what we want...it really depends on us..it is our life...our choice! we are the ones driving and controlling it. we can be rich if we really want to. we can be otherwise. its just a matter of disposition and hard work.

ya, I agree with that statement. i was born in a poor family and it wasn't me alone. There are many others who are like me. We cannot expect to be born in a rich family. It is we who makes our own life colourful. Some other people who were born in a poor family was now become a wealthy people. Some people can only dreams to be rich but can't achive it. The main thing is we need to struggle for achivement. Do not blame others but blame ourselves for not trying.
