Why do we believe? What is so special about believing?

It all depends on what we believe in. Believing in something makes it real to us. I Believe in the right to freedom, does that mean I have that right? No, it doesn't, but it does make the statement real to me, and it makes it worth my time and effort in fighting for it. I believe in my Lord and Savior, and His power to redeem and protect his people. Does that make him real? No, but it makes the statement real to me, making my efforts seem meaningful to me. Does that answer your question, or am I off base?
