Recently I just ran across a website that will send you a free reuseable shopping tote bag if you take their Conservation quiz and pass with 9/10. The quiz is simple, but if you don't know some of the answers, it definately doesn't hurt to read and learn (there are a lot of resources available on their website). The quiz is made possible by Earthbound Farm Organic, an organic farm dedicated to saving the environment! Just go to http://ebfarm.com and click on the lower left hand side for the link to the quiz. Together let's help save our environment for our future children!

that move by the supermarkets to have tote bags instead of plastic bags is really helpful..... not only does it help the general "health" of the place we live in but it also helps in making sure that our place looks clean and well-maintained...have you notice that the places near supermarkets have several plastic bags fying around it? i would try to go to the website that you mentioned and maybe, be able to get the tote bag that you said.....

I took the quiz, which was fairly easy, and then signed up for one. I think it might be a while before they send it out... which isn't a big deal because I have a ton of tote bags just lying around my house anyway! I think it's just one more reason to switch from plastic to canvas. I like shopping at places like Aldi and Save-a-lot because they make you buy the plastic bag for 10 cents so I usually end up using cardboard boxes or bringing my own!

I don't have a tote bag though my wife uses one. I find it hard to get in the habit of making sure it is in the car when I go shopping. But I do shop as much as possible in the stores that lets you use the empty boxes for the groceries. I also carry out the items by hand and refure a bag is I don't have too many. I often buy milk in bags and find it ridiculous when the teller puts the bag into another bag ot carry. I usually catch her before she does this and tell her that I will take it out as is. The fewer bags we use, the better for all of us.

Some supermarkets around here have tote bags we can use instead of plastic or paper bags. They are wonderful bags, I enjoy using the ones we have.

Thanks for the tip. I took the quiz and sent for the free bag. I loved the site and bookmarked it too. I have a veggie garden and trying to grow organically. Great ideas and info here. I usually get the plastic bags at the grocer and re use them until they get holes and then I recycle them after that. I know recycling is better than throwing them into our landfills, but it still pollutes the air and uses too much water to recycle. These cloth bags are a great tool to help the environment.
