Being nice, and people over do it

I let my friend borrow my paypal debit card. They had money transfered to my account, and I usually don't use the card, and just use my account for my ebay stuff.
Well I haven't recieved my card back yet, they've already gone over the balance once, but they returned the funds to the account.
I checked it just a few minutes account, and my card was used again, even though they knew they had spent what they had transfered in there to begin with.
They've also been asking for a lot of help with things lately. Are always last minute about asking, offer to pay, and don't pull through. My dad has been helping them out a lot, and has ended up pulling money out of his own pocket.
Dealing with people like this is so frustrating. Have you ever experienced something similar to this? What did you do about it?

It's never fun dealing with people like that! I hate to say it, but unless you want them to drag you down (finacially) with them then you got to stop giving them money.
some people just dont know how to handle money and they definitely wont learn if they keep getting it handed to them.

They initially transfered money into the account, they have their own paypal account, but not the debit card. It's a family members finacee, so I'm trying to be as nice as I can about it. He's starting to become unreliable.

Thats not easy, especially when they are so close. The last person I had to deal with like that actually was my fiance. He started getting me in money trouble, once I stoped giving him money he became almost abusive.
Needless to say the relationship didnt work out much longer. but money wasnt his only problem.
I hope everything works out for you guys!

I'm glad everything worked out best for you!
I didn't give them any money, they transfered about 800USD to my account, and ask to use my card because they didn't have one.
He's more than willing to pay me back. It's just the fact that it's happened twice now, and it's just bothersome to have to deal with it.

I would not have loaned mine out, but if I had I would have gotten the card back a long time ago. Why didn't they just get their own PayPal account? I would be getting the card back right away and informing them that they will not be borrowing it again and that I do not appreciate them taking advantage of my kindness.

Have her bring by your card. I would tell her I had something for her, let her assume it's money. So that she will come over, tell her it will take about twenty minutes. Walk her through setting up her own paypal account. Let her know you understand she may be going through a tough time, and you can set aside an hour to show her how to earn some extra money on her Own paypal card.
Maybe show her how to do an ebay auction or point her to where at online she can learn about earning money that can go into her paypal account. But make it clear, that she can't borrow your card anymore.
If she doesn't want to come by, go to her unexpectedly and get your card back, before she makes any more purchases

Thanks for the advice. Sometimes I hate being such a nice person, but I guess I learned things the hard way.
Thanks again.

Oh, I would never hand over a card, oh, no! I don't mind lending a responsible friend money. But if I don't get it back by the due date you are off the responsible list. I once lend my in-laws money and never got it back. I never mentioned it and wrote it off because of what came afterwards and I didn't want to cause a fuss although it did hurt us not to have the money. They never said anything about it again but a couple years later, when we needed it they bought us stuff like a dryer and weed-eater and some other things. So it's a wash;)
