I'm thinking this will be an odd discussion to post but I've got to say it somewhere. I hate toilet paper...it peels it crumbles its expensive and generally yucky. I was reading a discussion on here the other day about bidets and thought that was a neat idea but..they arent in canada. They probably leave a much cleaner feeling that TP and are easier on the environment. Ive actually been finding lately that more and more toilet papers are cheaply made even if they are expensive and they just fall apart. It drives me wacko...Ive actually taken to buying baby wipes and carrying them in my purse for use in public washrooms (if i REALLY must use them) because they have such bad toilet paper. Does anyone else find toilet paper to just be..frustrating and rather nasty?

Here come one of these issues on toilet paper. being in the united states it seems that the stuff is so thin, it all over your hands, or some one pees on it making it unusable, more and more her it seems to be in rolls of 10,000 sheets so the toilets need less cleaning. I have to carry baby wipes not only to clean the toilet and the seat if it even looks usable and if not i sit on the rim. let me make it clear that I am in a wheel chair, the only thing worse then the toilet paper is someone who is not just using it when there are other stalls are wide open.

Ewww public washrooms. I try to hold it as long as possible cause i hate public washrooms. I hate them even more now than i did in high school since...i worked as a maintenance girl for the local park. Grossest job ever was cleaning the bathrooms there. Esp the one beach where over night if it didnt get locked (which on weekends when tourists were around) someone regularly smeared POOP on the walls. Just gross.

I agree. Toilet paper seems really messy lately. Are they changing the materials used in them or something? I usually use Scott because it USED to fine to me.(This is my opinion. Someone else might be fine with it still.) From the choices in the stores in my area, Scott was the cheapest of the better TP's. Then gradually its material became worse and it doesn't hold up as much. I can't even blow my nose in it without it ripping through and landing on something.(It used to be strong enough to hold it.)Of course, gross. That's for if I don't have tissue. It crumbles and leaves messes that I have to go and take another shower to get off and one time while cleaning, everything went through it and covered my hand so I had to wash my hands. I'm trying more brands now but I understand what your saying. It's even worse in public rooms. The toliet paper literallt disolves from the heat in your hand within 2 seconds. I buy portable baby wipes to carry. I get them at the general store for $1 because they're the cheap kind but it's better.

crumbling tp is just no good. I'd buy the cheap kind too but...i hate to leave a toilet clogged or anything (i had some yucky experiences working as maintenance in a provincial park in university so i take a lot of care in making sure i dont leave a mess of my own behind of any sort of yuckiness that i wouldn't want to have to clean up after someone else.)

If you go to any high end store that sells toilets and bathroom fixtures you can find bidets in Canada. They are just not popular here. I have seen them in many places in Europe but I would not use one. Wet surfaces keep germs alive for a long time. One would have to be cleaning and disinfecting the thing a lot. You can also buy a squat toilet. Those are used in most Asian and Middle Eastern countries where toilet paper is rarely used. They have a hose attached for use. I have seen those in airports that have both Western and Squat toilets. I have also read about a toilet that was developed in Japan that washes you and then dries you off. I believe it is very expensive. I know someone who had one installed in the home. Baby wipes clog up the drains if flushed because they don't disintegrate easily. There is some good quality toilet paper on the market but I agree with you most of the stuff in public washrooms is of poor quality. I find that thorough handwashing is the most important task after using a facility.

Hand washing is very important with soap! I buy the flushable baby wipes rather than just regular ones. a little more expensive but a lot less yicky than really thing tp. I didnt know you could get bidets here...thats good to know although my bathroom at home would never fit one in the size it is now. I dont think id feel comfortable using a public one...

What in the world are bidets? I've never once had a problem with toilet paper. I use it to wipe after urinating and deficating. I used baby wipes to clean after deficating and then dry the area off and wipe extra good with the toilet paper. I like to get very clean and toilet paper just doesnt cut it for me after a bowel movement. But for urinating anything would do. I've used napkins before.

Bidets - are a low mounted plumbing fixture/sink intended to be used for the washing of genitalia and bum. link to wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bidet I feel that with TP i never feel as clean as with a wipe.
