I am just curious to how many people here on mylot make their bed every single day, first thing in the morning. I had heard someone make the comment that a person who makes their bed every single day, first thing in the morning, is usually a person who feels in control of their life. I heard this person say, that it just starts the day out right. So what do you, my fellow mylotters say to this?? Do you make your bed every morning?? Why or why not??

LOL, I wondered about the "beds"..but hey each to their own..lol So you don't ever just leave them unmade? Why is that? Is it because it looks nice having them made or do you agree with what I heard someone say, do you believe it starts your day off better?? ...just curious. Thanks for the response.

I do think it starts my day off better and it makes it easier too knowing I dont need to do much else up there thrugh the day

Im out of control I guess I dont make my bed. I just dont see a reason to spend any time making the bed. I will just usually fold my blanket and set it to the side.

I agree, I am out of control too...I guess. I don't make my bed everyday, I figure, I am going to be right back in it that night, why make it..lol and besides, I don't like to sleep with my blankets all tucked under. I have to have my bed a little ruffled up..lol Thanks for the post!

I don't make my bed everyday. I make it whenever I strip the sheets and do it from scratch. I can't see making it each day when I'm just going to get back in and mess it up again. Of course I don't mess it up that much when I sleep. If I did that might make a difference but it is fairly neat when I get up.

You're welcome. Nice to know I'm not the only one who feels this way. Of course the fact that no one ever sees my room might have something to do with it.

I agree with you, I don't see why I should make my bed every morning when I am getting back into it that night. Thanks for the post.

I make my bed every day. Why? Well, because our bedroom is pretty small and I feel like the bed looking messy makes the whole room look messy. I'm weird that way though!

Yep, our bedroom is pretty small so it doesn't take much at all to make it look like a total disaster. It currently looks like a tornado went through it because I've been in a bit of a spring cleaning frenzy...going through everything and throwing out a ton of crap. Which means I have stuff everywhere!

I can understand that, when you have a small room it can look messy just by having the smallest thing out of place, or having the bed unmade. Thanks for the post, have a great day!

Yes I make my bed each morning as soon as I get up!!! In fact I begin making it before I even get out of it!!! LOL...I smooth the blankets and the sheets and slide out of the bed and finish my side. Then I "foof" it with all my pillows and make it look great..the rest of my house should get such attention!!! LOL....I just feel good about starting the day with a neatly made bed and in turn I love to get into a comfy spot that looks and feels good at night when it's time to go to bed!!! My husband is a sweetie...he puts up with my foo-foo bed making...he just moves the pillows to the side when he wants to get in bed. I sleep better in a well made bed!!! Call me crazy!!! It's perhaps the only control I have in my life!!

You described it so well, it was as if I visualized you foofing the pillows..lol Well at least you feel like you have some control, by making your bed, some people don't feel like they have any control in their life at all. Thanks for the post. Have a great day!

Of course I make my bed every morning. Not only in the morning. As long as we (my husband and me) do lay on it anytime of the day and the pillows and blankets are out of place we would just put em back properly. Yep 1st thing in the morning is get up and make the bed. Takes only less than a minute to make the bed. Making the bed is a must....I can't stand seeing messy pillows and unfolded blankets.

I really onlt make my bed after ive washed the bed linen. I never really make the girls beds either except if we are getting visiors that i know will go in there. Im not sure what having control of your life has to do with making your bed.

That is when I make my bed too, after I wash the bedding. I too, don't know what making your bed has to do with having control of your life...but that is just what I read in an article. Anyhow, thanks for the post, have a wonderful day!

I get my bed tidy before i start for my day..and maybe your right.. that the one who made there bed will definitely has a control for there own life. But its depend on a person i think????not depend in bed something.LOl.

Yeah I am not sure that I believe all that about the person making their bed having more control of their life. I think I have pretty good control of my life right now and I never make my bed..lol Thanks for the post, have a great day!

Hi Nelly, Yes, I make my bed up everyday, not as soon as I get up - the brain has to wake up and think first...LOL..usually after taking my shower, I then make up my bed.

Yeah I also do not do much of anything until my brain wakes up...I have never been much of a morning person and it takes me a while to get fully awake. Thanks for the post, have a wonderful day!

Yes it is one of the first things that I do! I cannot stand seeing the bed unmade, and with the duvets it only takes a tidy and a shake to make it! Oh and a plump of the pillows. I would not say that I feel in control of my life though, quite the opposite actually! Some days control is the last thing I feel!

Absolutely not! there's no point as the kids spend all day jumping in and out of it, and we'll only muess it up again later anyway. What a waste of energy! The only time I'd make my bed would be of there was someone due at the house who may see it that I was trying not to shock too much. But I'd be more likely to just shut the bedroom door :-)

I wouldn't even worry to shut the door, I don't make my bed and don't care if someone sees that it isn't made..lol Life is too short to stress myself over something that minor, ya know? Thanks for the post, have a great day!

Yup - bedmaker here, although not first thing. Routine is get up, make hubby's lunch, do yoga, make bed, start laundry. Makes the house look neater, only takes a minute and keeps the cats from shedding on the sheets.

If there was ever a reason I would make it every morning, it would be exactly that...my cats. They do shed everywhere and it has been driving us nuts..lol Maybe I should just start making it so that the cat hair isn't on the sheets. Thanks for the post, have a great day!

HAHA, making a bed everyday, why, you are just going to mess it up again when you get back into bed. The only time I make my bed, is when for some reason, I feel like it. I feel like I am in control of my life, I just have better things to do, than waste time everyday, making my beds.

I do make my bed every morning when I get up and cover it with many covers because I have an old kitty that lives in my bedroom mainly and she does throw up now and again and so to keep from washing all my bed stuff every day, I just cover it all up. And she sleeps on the bed most of the day and of course that means hair. So when I go to bed I can just remove the outer covers and have a nice bed. I have always been in the habit of making my bed every morning anyway. Guess my mother taught me that. It sure doesn't mean that I am neat in the rest of the house. I am a horrible house keeper.

The only time I ever make my bed is if I'm changing the sheets and I'm NOT getting right into it. Otherwise, I just don't see the point. It's just more work to make it and then unmake it before bed. It would be different if anyone else ever came in our room other than us, but since they don't, it just doesn't matter.

I don't make my bed in the morning. Not enough time. I only allow myself enough time, after I get out of bed, to brush my teeth, put may makeup on, do my hair, get dressed and head out for work. So, when I get home from work, it is part of my chores to make my bed. I usually don't make the bed on Saturdays but, I make it as a part of Sunday's house cleaning chores. I don't know about what it says about a person who makes their bed every morning. Maybe they are just a very motivated, organized person. LOL!

I don't make my bed every morning because I don't have a free time. Like you know, students aren't have a free time. They are worry about their education, their career.

Nope I dont make our bed unless I know I'm having company over. I see no sense in it. What starts my day out is a nice big cup of coffee (_)? I also dont make my kids make thier beds either. And I dont think I was told to make mine unless we were expecting company, when I was younger. So I'm guessing I'm carrying on the tradition of non bedmaking. And btw...I am in full control of my life, lol!
