This is NOT AN APRIL FOOL'S PRANK. Though thought to be a hoax, it has been repeatedly confirmed by many physicians.. This happened long time ago, in 1939. A dad got his daughter to a doctor to get rid of a 'tumor' in her stomach.. The doc confirmed that it was a pregnancy.. The girl had begun her periods at the age of three, maybe due to a hormone disorder.. Dad was arrested in charge of incest, but released as there was no evidence. The father is still not known.. Read more over here: www.snopes.com/pregnant/medina.asp and www.damninteresting.com/?p=236 So.. What do you say??

That is so weird, this comes to show that we could be evolveing and getting smarter and smarter at a younger age. The weird thing is the little girls, little boy, had the same birthday as me. It would be so weird having a mom only 5 years older than me.

I have also read this story, but on a different website. It must have been something really trechorous (sp?) for that child to go through, even back in that day and age.

Well, after the child was born, the girl actually treated him as her little brother.. And the boy grew up thinking that she was his sister, until he was about ten!!

I read and heard about this story, but I thought that there was not truth to it. One, what kind of hormone disorder would cause I girl to have her period at age 3 and two, she could not have carried it to full term, could she? I can obviously see that this story is true, but it still seems unbelieveable. I have heard of girls having early menstrual cycles. I should know, I had mine at 10 and 1/2, and have heard of girls having their menstrual cycles at 8 and 9 years of age. People say it is genetics and whatever is in the water, but a five-year-old girl having her cycle and getting pregnant is inconceiveable.

That is just insane. At 5 you are still a child, you should be playing with your G.I. Joes and reading comic books (the kid friendly ones of course). Already a woman at age 5, no.

Well, it was conceivable, wasn't it?? Thats all part of nature.. The hormone disorder must have been that she might have started producing estrogen and progesterone at 5..

If it is true, I wonder why this story is not better known. It states that her second son, born 33 years later, is still alive. It seems the identity of the baby's father is unknown, but her own father was under suspicion at the time. I looked at the photographs but am still not entirely convinced it is true.

You never hear of that happening. I am totally speachless on this. After reading the article you would think with Lina being 5 years old that her small body would not be able to carry a 6 pound infant in her to term. It was horrible that the kids teased the boy about it. It should of been kepted quite. But with something so outrageous it would of been hard to keep quiet and they would have all sorts of presses on that story.

I can understand you, but it is impossible to keep such things buried as they are one in a million oddities of nature..

I remember my dad telling me about this little girl back when I was in the early grades of school. We were on one of our outings to eat at The Pink Horse and play at Shadyside Park. How this subject came up, I had no idea. He didn't tell me about the birds and the bees at that point--that discussion (participated in by both of my folks) came up a few years later when I was eleven. In fact, at that time, I still thought that babies were delivered by the doctor having a special screwdriver to unscrew the belly-button to open the tummy and take out the baby. But he must have just read about it and was sharing it with me while we were out in the parking lot sharing our custom-made sandwiches and other goodies that The Pink Horse was famous for. He said that the girl was so young that, when they told her that she was going to have a baby, she probably thought that somebody was going to buy a new doll for her. Anyway, we were both pretty amazed about some little kindergarten kid in South America having a baby. It seems as if she weren't even told that she was having a baby--just went for an operation one day to take the baby out and didn't even associate the operation with the baby but, instead, just thought that her mom and dad gave her a baby brother. It's amazing how normal this little girl turned out to be even with all of this happening. She married once--and has stayed married--and she and her husband went on to have another son together thirty some years after her first son was born. My dad also told me that he'd heard that her firstborn had his first child at a fairly young age (like teens or early twenties)--making his mom a grandma while she was still in her twenties. Either that or he told me that, had her firstborn done this, this girl would have been a grandma in her early twenties. I can't remember for sure at this point. But here's something to think about: Imagine if he had a child at sixteen and his child had a child at sixteen. His mom would have been a grandma before she'd turned 22 years old and would have been a great-grandma before she'd turned 38 years old! If the same thing happened again, she would have been a great-great-grandma before she was even old enough to be eligible for The Golden Apple Discount at Applebee's. But, of course, there was no Applebee's back then, either.

That's pretty crazy. I didn't even think something like that was possible! I bet that had to be a scary experience for both the child, and the family.

I say that the father got off damned lucky not guilty give me a break this is sure not unheard of a father raping his own child in fact I was also a victim and of course as he was a respected man in the communityhe just could not have done such an awful thing but he did do it. What is so bizarre is that the poor baby began her periods at age three I hope they get that dad and put him behind bars. no stranger is going to rape a five year old child and the dad probably knew that.

Hey no one told you the dad raped her.. He was suspected, but no one had any evidence.. The kid dad still remains a mystery.. If it was her dad, then imagine.. He is the baby's father as well as the grandfather !!!

Wow, that is really disturbing. I hope they gave that little girl a c-section because having a baby at such a young age would have completely ruined her nether regions. I have a hard time believing that the child was born so healthy because a 5-year-old girl is still growing herself, so she must have eaten very well to have grown a healthy baby as well. I would totally believe that a hormonal disorder was to blame for the early pregnancy because no normal child would be fertile at such a young age. A shame, though, that they never found out who the father was so that he could go to prison.

This is rather odd and quite unbelievable although if it is to be believed, couldn't it be one of those sort of freak twin things? I remember seeing something on tv about a boy who was "pregnant" with his own parasitic twin.

Well, this is really an interesting story to read. It was not believable at first but when I got to read the story, well yes it was explained how it came to be. All I can say is... life is full of mystery and the human body is sooooo complex. I was just wondering where was the mother of the girl and why she was not mentioned in the story? Doesnt she have any role in it? Raising a child at my age of 20+ back then was hard so how else could it be for that 5 year old girl? Also, having a C-section in your formative years? Wow. But it was good that the boy was grown in full pregnancy and nothing happened. That is a blessing for the family I guess despite the unbelievable sin done to whoever did that rape to the child.

This is so sad. I feel for that little girl. Someone needs to have their manhood removed. I can't imagine. She was still a baby herself.
