Let's face it--being a mom, especially in the early years, takes up most of our time and energy. Many of us have trouble just scheduling in a trip to the gym or a hair appointment. We want to raise our children right and give them all of the love and attention they deserve, but we have dreams of our own as well. Don't we?
I am an aspiring novelist. When I have time (or when I'm supposed to be sleeping) I write. Squeezed in between driving the kids to school and activities, making meals, and running a daycare, I write. It is a compulsion that I can't suppress and I am sometimes frustrated that I can't spend more time on it.
So, when my kids grow up, I want to be a full-time writer. What do you want to be?

My heart has always belonged to writing. When my kids came along, I began home schooling them, writing most of their curriculum. Over the last year, we have switched geers to un-schooling. (That's a whole nother topic.) So my dream for when they're all "growd" up, is to write curriculm type books geered for un-schoolers, or relaxed home schoolers. In the meantime, I write at evry given opportunity to fine tune my skill.

It's growing in popularity, but not many people know about it. It's a relationship based approach, where usually there is absolutely no curriculum. The parent follows the child's lead. There is really very little print available for un schoolers, because for one its so new, and two few know how to approach it. Thanks for your encouragement.

First, enjoy your kids while you can. They grow up very fast and you can't get a second of it back. Then they are gone and you are saying "where'd the time go?" and then you'll be sorry that you wasted so much time being frustrated about not having "me" time. Once they are gone, you'll have plenty of "me" time to do whatever you want. But while you can be a mom - be one...first and foremost.

I pretty much just miss them and try to stay occupied on MyLot and my blogs and be available to them 24/7 for babysitting for their kids! Not enjoying life much these days without my kids.

I work for myself, so I can always spend time with my son who is now 15 months old. I like to write a lot and wanted become a public speaker when my sons (I'm pregnant again now)is around 10 to 12 years old. First I will travel to many countries and study peoples' behaviour, meet more people and then slowly compile into a book and my speech material. I always dream of standing in front of thousand of people who willing to pay me thousand dollar to listen to my speech, the feeling is like winning Malaysia Idol or maybe much better than that. Of course, if my public speaking is so successful, my book will be selling like those of Dr John Gray and Anthony Robbins...wah....nice feeling right? I'm not only rich but I will also fulfulling my purpose of living.

I want to be several things. I would love to open and run another Cafe. I have also thought about starting a Party Light, Tupper Ware, Pampered Chef type job. Or if there was a way I could earn a real income off the Net, that would be great too. I am at the stage were my kids are grown, so now what??? Hard to decide still.

Going to school is really hard when you have kids. That in itself is working toward a dream, isn't it? I babysit for a single mother who is going to school and really admire her because even though she is working hard to improve their future, she still takes time for her child and spends every spare minute with him that she can. She only works part-time though. All I can say is wow! How on earth do you manage?

Right now I am so caught up in my kids and their day-to-day lives that I haven't really thought about myself for a while. I do enjoy riding my horses, and most of the time I can take my kids along to ride too. But I guess if I had more time I'd probably spend more time training my horses and riding them.

The Unsung Hero of our life...We spell it out with M.O.M - magical Mysteries Of Motherhood (MOM). There is the Joyful, Sorrowful and Glorious mysteries in rearing our child and molding them to be the best they can be. And this entails a lot of 'giving up' of moms' and dads' personal time for themselves. Growing together with our kids is just like reparenting the child in us. Our hopes, dreams, learnings and ambitions as parents grows as our kids grow and that should not be suppressed for effectiveness starts from with in ourselves - and one day, when my boy grows to be a fine young man - I see myself as a fulled teacher and an effective friend !

Sometimes it feels like that will never happen! I sometimes feel like I am drowning in being a mum, days just blur into the next day, rounds of nappy changing, school and homework!! Do not get me wrong I am in no rush for my children to grow up but dreams we have for ourselves just go out of the window. I have lots of things that I would like to do, writing is one, then I have lots of other things too, I just wonder if I will have enough time to do everything. I too get frustrated that I cannot do more things that I want to do, but for now it is how it has to be.
