I never used to read as a child. For school when I have book reports to do I would just rent a goose bump movies and write a report the day before they were due. But once I got to college they handed me 3 text books. Within 3 months I had sat down and read until I was finished. This really helped my grades and when I got sick and was un able to be in class I was always ready and able to do the work on that section. Now that Im done reading those books I missed it. So last week I went to the library and borrowed about 6 books. Within 2 days I had finished off the first one. I've stared reading a bit of each from the other 5. It keeps me busy and I'm learning a lot of things I never knew before!

I have a tough time remembering when I didn't read. I used to eat Science Fiction for breakfast. I find it difficult to find SciFi titles anymore that I haven't read or are of interest. I love action, spy, military, law & murder mysteries. Some hunting and fishing mags.
I Read mostly fiction but have read and enjoyed some biographies such as Sinatra, Jack Benny, Lear and a few others.
Some of the authors I enjoy are: Stephen King, Tom Clancy, Robert Ludlam, Lois McMaster Bujold, David Weber and many many more.
At last count I have over 1000 books in my library, paper and hardbound. I also use the local library a lot as the prices of books I want to read are sometimes prohibitive.
The last time I sold any of my books I filled a pickup bed full of them but since then have kept all I have bought. Moving them is a bit of a pain (they are HEAVY) :) Anyway, enjoy all your reading and like you said, you may even learn something you didn't know!

I've never actually read the harry potter books. Everyone tells me I should. Maybe I'll look into it! I just started going to the library. It's wonderful I want to sit there all day till I meet just one friend! lol

Yea, I get that alot too, people recommending Harry Potter books to me, and people of all ages, its funny because me and my friend were heading to a bar in the city and on the bus ride my friend pulls out a Harry Potter book and that was it, I decided Im definately going to try one day reading it--theres always so many books competing for your attention though like
"How To Talk About Books You Haven't Read", Pierre Bayard, its entertaining.

Hi Keely. My story is the opposite. I loved to read from I was very young. I give credit to my older sister who read a lot and just has this gift of bringing a story alive.
Everytime she read a book and told us the story about it we would all just want to read the story for ourselves. Thus began the reading marathons in the home. She had the same effect when it came to movies too. Only she told the Story of Freddie Couger (sp) a bit too well. To this day I have not watched that horro movie and I have no intentions to do so.
I do not read as much I would like to now but I really love to read. Books take us all around the world and through various emotions. You are right. Books are a wondeful source of information. (lol)

reading is a great habit to be in, not only is it good for your health in terms of keeping brain cells happy, it tends to make you a more interesting person. Also the benefit of being an adult over a kid when it comes to reading is you can pick and choose what you want to read as opposed to having crappy books shoved at you and told to read because your future depends on it.

Reading is a great habit. Once you get into that habit, and if you find it interesting too, you cannot easily come out of it. What to read at which age is a different matter. The more one reads, the more knowledge of things he or she gets. So,keep reading, but good stuffs at it!

I have always liked reading, whether I read the stuff on my computer screen, read a magazine, or read a book. I had a few gift cards from Borders bookstore here in the USA, and last weekend my husband and I went on a little shopping spree up in Phoenix. I have enough stuff to read until I get home to Canada, next month.
