Before the driver starts to drive, do you usually look at the meter to see if it started from Zero or from whatever the flat rate is? And do you look at it from time to time to see if the meter is too fast?

The taxi's here never start from zero, they always start around £2.40 and increase by £0.20 every so often. I am not sure how taxi's measure the rate of increase, whether it is time or distance. I always watch the metre though, because then if it gets to a point when I won't be able to pay it then I can just say "stop here".

So does the taxi here. The flat rate here is P30. I remember it used to start from zero and then you just add P12.50 to the total amount. Well, that's like more than a decade ago. I'm not sure also how the meter goes whether it's by distance or something. LOL. That's what I do also, I stop the cab when I'm already short for the payment. :)

Yes, I do.
I always look on the meter if the driver have reset it to the flat rate. Sometimes, they forgot.

Yes that is right. There are some rude drivers but fortunately, I only met few... most of them are nice.

Yes, I do take a look at the meter as we start moving. Oh yes, they like to take the longest route especially if they sense that you don't know the place well, or if they sense that that was the first time you were there. I had the bad experience about that ! Amazing !

Hi kishikapur! Yeah, you better check ever now and then whether the meter is running faster than what they really should be. I've experienced riding in a cab where the meter was way too fast and I told the driver, good thing he didn't argue with me. LOL.

yeah i look at the meter most of the time lol because we can't tell if the meter of that taxi is too fast or just right, so i'm kinda an observer when it comes to taxi meters

hi marababe.
yes i do look at the meter if it has been restarted by the driver. i regularly take a cab going to work so i'm aware if the meter is too fast. so far, i haven't encountered one and if i do i'll definitely ask the driver about it. another thing i check when riding a cab is the cab details written at the side of the doors. i make a mental note and remember the name of the cab, the operator, and the plate number of the cab so that if i ever get into trouble, i can give the details and report it to the respective authorities.
