Yesterday my cousin calls me and asks me if i want to go with her to the circus - she got free tickets somehow.
I do not really like the circus. I don't remeber even liking it as a kid - I don't know if they are very humane to the animals and such & I think this is what bothers me the most. I am only going because I like my cousin and we haven't done anything together in the longest time!
I am taking my 5 yr old son with me - he has been to the circus before and liked it so he of course is really excited.
I am going to leave my daughter with my mom though - I think she would be terrified by the noise & bright lights. (She's only 7 months)
So what are your views on the circus? Do you like the circus? When's the last time you've been to one?
If you have a horror story, do me a favor and save it for Monday, lol. I might have my own to share by then!

I have not been to a circus since I was a little girl, I used to love it they are so exciting all the sounds and the smells and the fun. When I went to the circus they used to have elephants and things in there too which I enjoyed but I do not think they have animals now, or so someone was telling me. But I am sure they are still a lot of fun and I am sure you will love it! Oh and your son will too!

We took my two older kids when they were like 4 and 5 they liked it a lot, but all I can remember is that everything cost a lot of money, we had already paid a fortune and then we had to pay like $18.00 to park. Then we got the kids some cotton candy and it cost a small fortune. It's a shame that is all I remember, that and the elephant parade which my kids really liked.

I don't like circus's either in the past I have heard a lot of sad tales about the mistreatment of animals in the circus and that's what puts me off about going to the circus, seeing those poor animals made to do tricks and stuff, it's degrading for them. I hate clowns too, they are not funny, I think I was scared by one when I was a child that make me wary of them. It doesn't appeal to me, I hope you enjoy it and I'm sure your son will, probably more than you!

we got in for free, but had I bought anything or tickets my son and i alone would have spent at least $75. Tickets were around $11, drinks were $5 each, food was around the same and then they had pony rides & pictures with ppl for $10 & those darn light up toys - they wanted $15 for that!
Hopefully my son will thank me someday for not buying him crappy toys and eating before we went and drinking from the water fountain, lol. I feel bad, but i just won't waste that kind of money.

I like going to circus's though havent been to one for years!!
I liked going to the circus when I was younger, watching all the animals and the tricks. Not sure about the circus's being humane, you wil have to investigate when you go!!
It will be nice spending time with your cousin.
Bet your son is excited. Have fun.
Cant wait to hear your stories on monday!

I've only ever been to the circus once as a kid. And even then I didn't think much of it. I don't know how they treat the animals, but I'm sure some do really good taking care of favorites, and others not so well.
It's sort of like a zoo on wheels, only the animals do tricks and there's people involved.
I don't know if I'll ever take my son to the circus.. I guess if he wants to go, but I don't think I'll be the one suggesting it.

I have been to the circus, but that was years ago The animals are very well treated. Do you want people to ride people? People jump through hoops? People of short stature to ride on backs of people of large stature? Then you are promoting slavery,. It is not the animals that bothered me, nor the dangers that the trapeze artists went through, nor that the kids who have to travel from town to town. I do not like clowns and the last time, I went to the circus, there were some mentally retarded people there and they let them sit in the ring and get a better view just because their brain processes were slower than us.
I believe in equal rights, not special rights.
And I still am nervous about clowns.

I am actually amazed with it.Well,I was six when I first and last time I've been in one.The only part that hurts me is when they exploit animals for fun.I love animals. Can't help it.

it would be nice if they did a circus without animals - i would feel much more comfortable with that.

Good for you and have fun. II was never allowed to see one as a child as mum said they were "nasty" and even when they were free we didn't go, so as soon as I was on my own I went to one and in truth I couldn't quite see what all the fuss was about. Maybe mum thought of children running away to join one. Now, I think circuses are more sophisticated. I think you were smart to leave the littlest oe home though. Too many germs, I think.

Its been years since I was at a circus but I love ciruses very much. All the various attractions, the animals, the acrobats, and high wire people it is just so much fun to me. I do dislike the ideas of any animals being mistreated but the circuses that I went to seemed to be very caring of their animals. I was born on a farm and we used to have small circuses come to our town in the summer and we all went, thewhole town, it was such fun and we would eat all sorts of stuff at the various booths. I know that there are a lot of people that do not like the circus for one reason or another.

I don`t like the circus and I have never gone to the circus . It`s nothing but let animals imitate the action that people do !

i used to love going to the circus when i was a kid , not anymore now. I used to get fascinated by the stunts they perform and entertain people. But after i saw how the animals are being exploited and mistreated
i lost my interest in it. Also the money they earn is not very high , so just for some mere bucks they are playing with so many animal's lives. I feel sick when i am see them.
Waiting for your stories on monday

What I like about the circus is trapeze artists, jugglers, clowns, tightrope walkers, and acrobats. It makes me extremely nervous watching them, but if there is a safety net, I think it's okay. What I don't like is animals doing tricks, being chained up for long periods of time between performances or kept in small cages. I have a problem with zoos too - I'm 50/50 about keeping animals in the zoos.
If you want to go, I wouldn't say nay to you though. It's an outing with your cousin and your son will probably like it.
