foward that email to spoof@paypal.com they will investigate it and send you an email saying if it was fake or not and try to catch the people that do it!

Yep, that is definitely a scammer trying to get your information only they don't know you don't have a credit card on file. For those that do see how easy it is for someone to get trapped into this scam especially someone new who doesn't know. I report all those fake emails to spoof@paypal.com and they will send you an email thanking you for helping them catch these people.

I almost never open an email from Paypal. I can tell immediately that it's a scam and forward them to the spoof address.

A lot of these emails seem to be going around at the minute, the last one we had was a few weeks ago, but I just passed it on to the right people. It is a pain because sometimes you see them and read them and for a minute you think well is it real or not but then if you look closer something always gives it away like a spelling mistake or something. The scammers are really crafty.

Yes, I've had a couple of these in the last 3 weeks. I contacted PayPal and they had me change my password. They were very helpful. Anybody with a PayPal account needs to be very careful.
