I lost about 30 pounds from just walking 3-4 days a week for one hour. I walked briskly but when pain set in I would slow down until the pain eased, then pick up the pace again. In the winter I really bundled up good with a scarf around my face which caused me to sweat and lose 2 chins. In the summer I always walked at noon when it was the hottest so I would sweat a lot. That was my biggest goal, to sweat. But drinking lots of water along the way as well.

Thanks. I don't sweat hardly at all though --that's why I faint when it gets hot!

You can lose weight by adding any form of exercise to your daily activities. At some point though you will plateau, and maintain whatever bodyweight you are at. To lose more, you would have to walk more, or lower your caloric intake. Sorry ladies, but men seem to fair better with an exercise only plan. Women usually have to alter their eating habits to notice the same changes that a man would get from exercise alone. Don't get me wrong, walking alone, is beneficial so don't let me discourage you. It's just more beneficial for some than others.
