I am 44 and and the employers are making me feel like I have fallen into the grave already. I have done a lot of work in the manufacturing business and in a call center. Most recent work was doing buying for commercial air conditioners. Well, layoff time came around and I got it. I have seen teenagers get work when I can't. Just five years ago, if I put my resume out, I would get called constantly, now I cannot get a phone call or even a reply from the employer saying they received my resume'.
The bad thing is I am a really hard worker. I learn extremely fast and I am very good with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point. I type fast, have great organizational skills, supervisory experience and great administrative skills. I do not have a degree, but I did start taking some online classes when my last employer paid for it.
I feel like I am a has been. Somebody give me a break. I have several good years left in me.

If i were a manager i would hire you without hesitation. There's nothing more preciuos than a hard-working heart. A degree can be somthing but it can't be evrything, isn't it?
I don't know if you have seen a movie called " Persuit for Happiness" ,If you haven't i recommmend you watching this movie. The hero in this movie was also laidoff, his wife ran away to new york, leaving him their son. Really hard time to the hero in that movie but he finally became successful. One should just never give up and changes are always around the corner.
Good luck to you!
Have a nice day!

Thank you. I will check that movie out. Just a little discouraged right now, but it will pass. Most of my friends are older and they told me you have a harder time finding a job after you reach 40, but I did not believe it. Surprise, Surprise!!!!
You have a great day also.
