No. I think travel is a very good thing, though I accept that not all people are able to do it.
If you travel by air then the actual flight and the waiting time each end can be very tedious. I have just come back from New Zealand which is the opposite side of the world to the UK.
The first leg was from London, Heathrow to Los Angeles, USA a flight time of about 11 hours going over Iceland, Greenland, Canada and the Rockies. It was just about snow and ice all the way!
But took 2 hours driving to get to Heathrow and had to check in 3 hours before the flight. Then it took 2 hours to get through LA and another hours drive to Long Beach to the old liner, Queen Mary, which was our 1000' long hotel.
So door to door, the journey was 19 hours!.
At the opposite extreme, I sailed across the South Atlantic a few years back and that took several weeks and really made one understand how huge the world really is.
But travel is all about who you meet and what you see and experience the other end of the journey. That is what makes travel really worth while.

It would never be a waste of time as it opens the mind to new places and things....I totally can't understand why more people don't take advantage of traveling more if their pocketbooks allow them too. I have traveled to many places and some I would love to go back to and see more!

No its not. Because when you travel, you will learn alot of things. The experience could be treasured forever and will also help a person to appreciate the wonders of God's creation. If I have the resources or enough money to travel, I will do it regularly and to different places...

Of course not,,not at all.. whe you travel for a reason then it will never be a waste of the time and money. travelling for no reason is really nightmare. You must check first what is main point of your travelling,, and know the place of destination and check what is the best thing to do so you will not waste your trip.
1. if you are photographer you can take photos of many things.
2. if you are writer you can write about the place and people that you will met.
3. if you are business person then do business
4. if you are adventurer then do whatever it takes...

No to me travelling is not a waste of time or money. I travel because I want to and because it gives me a lot. I love to discover and experience new things. I always travel for a nice rason. It is either to see friends and family that live a long way from me, or for a peaceful vacation somewhere nice and warm and friendly. Travelling is one of the nicest things I know

I have not traveled many places, but I can't imagine it being a waste after seeing so many beautiful places. I long to see more places and even those that aren't so beautiful, just to experience seeing more of the world and seeing all that there is that makes up the world we live in.

I think this is closer to why many people don't travel much, even outside their own state or province. Many people are creatures of habit--they like what they know and what they're comfortable with. Not everyone needs the excitement, adventure, stress, etc,of travelling to an unfamiliar place. However, I've always believed that in order to know you own country, you must experience other country, as well. Just as in order to know and understand you own culture, you must experience other cultures. But then again, not everyone really cares about that kind of stuff.

I think that travel is a really great use of time. In the past people had to go by ship from the UK to Australia, now they can fly there in just 24 hours. I know that a train journey or a bus trip are superb ways to travel as well. Arriving at and spending time in the destination wonderful. I have been to 49 countries so far and seen other cultures and a variety of different landscapes. It is interesting to meet the local people and see the native wildlife. I think that business travelers don't always get to see much more than the airport and the office. However tourists can explore and get the most out of their time overseas.

In my opinion it is not a waste of time/money for myself. I travel for fun and thats what i get out of it. If i didnt have fun or i missed a flight i might think its a waste of time or money...otherwise no.
What i do think is a waste of money is...When politicians have pleasure trips on tax payers money..that sort of thing should be paid for out of their own pocket not by the gov't

I feel travelling enriches your experience of life and making you know a lot about the world other than the country you live and or the town you reside in.Whether it's travelling for pleasure or for business trips it always proves beneficial at the end because its not just the aim you get accomplished but also you tend to know different cultures and different people and how things works at other places. It gives you a lot of exposure.
