Can someone make this site a bit more clear to me?

What is the little icon at the bottom of the page for? Where it says (mylot) when I click it I get lots of html.
Why are some words in the post links? And how do I find the information on how this site works. The help section is too vage. I was looking at the list section too, not sure about that either. Ok, so some of you are saying, right about now, oh how dumb, well maybe so. But it is all new to me.

Hi gypsywomen. I am not sure what the icon is for. Mylot has just finished making a bunch of changes here. We are all learning the new stuff too. Keep exploring and you will get it. I see that you are really new here. So let me officially welcome you to mylot and I hope your enjoy yourself here. I have been here a month and I am really having fun. There are alot of friendly and helpful people here. There are people from all over the world. Take care and have a good day or night depending on where you live.

Thank you I have often wondered that too....I thought maybe it is a link of some sort to put on a webpage but I am not sure....I will watch your responses to see if you get an answer...
