I think if you are careful with the pennies and try to save money at every turn is there anything else you can do? When there simply is not enough money coming in!

It is all a game of math. If there isnt enough money comming in you need to get more comming in by getting a job or selling things. Or you need to stop money from going out bu canceling bills or doing with out things. It is a hard trick to ballance but it is so worth it when you get it to all work out. Good luck.

It sounds like you are under some stress if there is not enough money coming in. The obvious answer would be earn more money but that isn't always easy. Other options are to develop skills that others want... At times, I have made necklaces for people or done other things for people in exchange for financial help or food. I have also found, but have not yet used, the social services in my area... in most communities, there are churches that assist those who are poor with food etc. and even resources for low cost health care and you would be surprised too to find out that often the utilities like electric and phone and even landlords will allow bills to be paid in installments when it would appear that they will only accept full payments if you talk with them and explain your situation. There are also cheaper utility prices often if you are poor than you would have to pay otherwise. Be prepared though to prove income for these. I am speaking for California,USA but I think that this is most likely occurring in other areas too. Good luck with the financial situation... Hope it improves soon.

We have to really look at our expenses, and try to decide what is necessary, and what we can do without. Sometimes you have to take a second job. I am working two jobs, and I make a little online and as an independent contractor. My problem is that with the cost of fuel some of the things I used to make money doing now cost me more than I make. I like the things I earn online.

We just started drawing early retirement for hubby, as he keeps on working and paying in. It gives us a little cushion for the shorter months we think. My main job is only during the school year. I pick up extra hours at the second job when I am not working at the first. Like holidays and summer.

You could try having a garage sale, or selling some items on ebay. Also there are a lot of sites on line now where you can earn cash, this being one of them. You can sell your old books, and DVD's on Half.com for free, you just pay a 15% commission after the book is sold.

There are always ways to cut a little more money out of the budget. Unfortunately, once you get to this point, the things that you have to start cutting are small and you have to cut out a lot of things to start feeling the savings. Things my family does include growing/raising our own (garden, chickens for meat/eggs), cooking from scratch (no convenience foods, just buy bulk, raw ingredients to make bread, pastas, casseroles, etc from scratch), leftovers are eaten for lunch the next day and then, if appropriate, and if there is still some left over, it goes to the chickens. (vegetarian stuff only). When our chickens start laying at the end of the summer, we will be able to cut out all eggs from our grocery budget. Big family, this is at least 10 dozen eggs a month that we'll be able to cut, a savings of about $15 a month. (food for the chickens runs about $5 a month, so that is still a savings of $120 per year on just eggs), plus we will be able to sell our extra eggs. I buy stuff from garage sales. I found my husband a desk for $5 at a yard sale yesterday... he needed a desk and I happened upon one... If I find kids' clothes that are in good shape... I get those...I keep a list of the things we currently need and keep my eyes open for those things at sales. Paying full price is just not an option...even if I have to go to the clearance rack at a regular store...I just won't pay full price. I also barter for things we need... I sew and tie dye things... if people have something we need and they need something sewn or tie dyed, we work out a deal. Trading is also great for old clothes, toys, just things around the house that you no longer need. Best Wishes
