Does Marketing Pond really work?

How can we tell? I subscribed to its philosophy that you don't have to promote anything else except Marketing Pond, but if I remember right, I got downlines here in myLot before I started promoting MP exclusively in my blogs and other sites. I think promoting myLot directly works better than promoting it through MP. What do you think?
