Actor and activist Charlton Heston, 84 died Saturday evening at his home in Beverly Hills with his wife, Lydia by his side, it was announced by his family.

Heston had announced in 2002 that he had symptoms consistent with Alzheimer's Disease but an actual cause of death hasn't been announced. Heston was a larger than life figure for many years, starring as Moses in "the Ten Commandments and winning an Oscar as Ben-Hur among many other film roles. Younger people may remember him better for roles in Earthquake and Airport '75. He often said, “I have a face that belongs in another century,” referring to his many roles in historical films.
Heston was also an activist, in later years as the President of the NRA and marching with Martin Luther King Jr. during the civil rights movement. I personally remember an interview, not all that long ago, where he was asked his secret for his long marriage to his wife of 64 years and he answered "Three words - Honey, you're right."
To make this a discussion, do you have a favorite Charlton Heston movie? What ones do you best remember?

I heard this on the news this morning. I have heard the name Charleston Heston many times over the years but I never kept track of his career very much. I never knew he played Moses. We just seen that movie the other day. Tahnks for letting me know that was him in it.

He was a phenomenal actor who will be missed. I've enjoyed him in so many movies from "The Ten Commandments" on up to "True Lies". Not sure which would really be an all time favorite movie of his. I loved the cameo appearance he did in "Almost An Angel" but that movie wasn't really his. I think I would be torn between "The Ten Commandments" and "Planet of the Apes". In both movies he did outstanding performances, ones that really stuck with you long after the movie ended.
