How does your cat get your attention?

My cat, Alex, has got to be noticed at all times. As a kitten he started this thing of leaping into my arms just so I would hold him. He seems more content when I'm holding him, and to this day will jump in my arms when he's wanting some attention. In a way it's like he's giving me a hug, just by the way he puts his paws around my neck. If he's asleep and hears me go into another room, before I know it, there he is. Most of time he will cry and cry until he knows that I know he is there. Then once again, he's in my arms. There are times if I'm bent over picking something up off of the floor, he will bail right onto my back. He's spoiled in a way, but I kind of enjoy it.

My mad cat Moomin talks to me. He will get my attention by winding himself around my feet and yowing at me until I take notice of him

I've tripped over Alex a couple of times from him doing that. I get mad at first, just for the fact that I almost fell on my face, but it's impossible to stay mad at him.

My Rainbow Angel Divot used to jump into my arms, too. Please treasure this behavior. I miss my sweet boy every day. Josie uses her paws or her voice to remind me that it is time for her to eat or for me to go to bed. My Rainbow Angel Baffy used to tap my elbow when I was sitting down. Josie jumps into my lap whenever I have one. I don't know what I would do without my cats. My book Cat-House Sonnets is all about them.

I've always thought it was unique that he does this. I've never seen any other cats want this much attention. I remember going to my friend's house after school and her cats were always just laying around. I'm not sure if I could ever get another cat after Alex is gone. He is the first cat that I've ever owned and has touched my heart in a way that no other pet has. He's very much my baby, and it just wouldn't feel right to try and "replace" him.

My shadowcat (when he's outside once I get back from work) will meet me at the car door and escort me to the house..He'll get onto my lap as I sit here and wrap his tail around my arm, leaving me typing one handed..He likes company when he eats,so He'll meow til I go with him to the kitchen! He doesn't tend to get physical with Me when he wants attention..He'll scratch the couch or the door when wanting in or out..

It depends on which of my babies you are dealing with. My tabby walks in front of you and meows until you pick him up. My calico/siamese flops on her back and exposes her white belly. awwwww =^-^= My tuxedo kitty says "mweooow" repeatedly until you acknowledge her. My new kitten, just adopted after she was found on the side of the road; has yet to develop her "style" . They are sooo funny.

My cat constantly wails when he wants some attention, or paws his paw against your leg and looks totally adorable while doing it! I suppose all cats are different, some are real characters!

What's For dinner? - Here's a picture of Tabby sitting and waiting for his night time food.
Well it depends on which cat. We have several and they all have different ways of trying to get my attention. It also depends on why they want my attention. For example if they somehow end up out of water Gabby will lay in the bowl where as a couple of the others will pull the bowl out into the middle of the floor. They will also do that for their food. However at night when they want the wet food mixed with dry a few will sit on the stove near the door to the garage and stare at me until I get it. Now if they want love and pettings thats a whole other thing. Some will just climb up on me and get in my face. Tabby tries to then give me cpr and presses his paws into my chest trying to make it softer. Oliver puts his paw up on my leg and makes this pathetic meow (sounds like his squeeker is broken) until I pick him up and put him on my lap. Then here is Cricket. He will sit there and chirp at you. He doesn't meow, he chirps.

My pet cat - My pet cat is very playful. It is waiting eagerly for me to play with it.
Hi Amber, your cat looks lovely and so cute in your avatar. From your story I could know how intimate the relationship between you and your pet Alex. I do realize that you are quite enjoyed with what it’s doing on you. My pet cat likes moving around me to fondle my legs using its tail and head while I am surfing net. It’s very playful and doing this to arouse my attention to play with it.

One in specific, Sydney, will grab her favorite toy which the hubby and I have named Passport because it travels all over the place throughout the house. She'll pick it up in her teeth and start caterwahling because she wants to play fetch with it. She tends to do that a lot just as the hubby and I settle into bed. LOL!

In the mornins, before I am awake, my cat will lie next to me. As long as she does not see me open my eyes.. I am OK. But the second she sees the whites of my eyes, she is rubbing my face, shoulder, or whatever body part she can find that is exposed. Other time.. she just climbs into my lap, licks (kisses) my nose and rubs hr face on mine and PUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRSSSSSSSSS shes loud

My youngest, Carly, will go out of her way to get me to stop whatever I am doing to pay attention to her. Usually this means she does something she isn't supposed to be doing, such as using the door frame as a scratching post or agitating the other cats. She is in charge. If you stop to pay attention to her and she didn't initiate it she turns and goes the other way. However, I promise you, in the evenings, she is piled up in my lap sleeping. At night, she is piled up next to me, usually in the crook of my arm. And you better not let another cat get close or think about moving. She difinately is vocal about her ogjections.

Alex sounds like a real snuggle-bug. Even though it might be slightly annoying at times it's gratifying too, isn't it? To have a pet that loves you that much? My cat used to either climb up in my lap if I was sitting down or just sit and stare at me. I think he must have been telepathic. If he wanted his litterbox cleaned, he would sit in front of it and stare at it until I noticed and did his bidding. If it was food he wanted...you guessed it! Same thing. He'd sit and stare at his bowl. If he wanted MY attention, he'd sit and stare at ME. It worked too. He had me very well trained!

well, you seem to have a jolly happy cat. :) Yea,at times some pets like to have our full undivided attention for 24 hours ! Have you noticed, they are like babies.Babies cry when the persons around them donot give them attantion! After all,the pets want is some of our attention on them for which they are very loyal, and even act as a friend,by giving us a source of inspiration in our troubled times. Cheers ! ======== Pets are our most truthful friends ========
