What happened to Country Music?

I have loved Country Music since I was a kid. Anything from Hank Williams (Sr) and Earnest Tubb to Merl Haggard and Waylon Jennings. I enjoy some of the new artists and some of their songs but to me, Country in now moving to Country Rock and even Pop. Some of the NEW COUNTRY is not even in the genre in my opinion. What do you all think?

I too love the older country music. I used to play and sing country music in some of the bars around the Buffalo NY area. I have a stutter, so I was Buffalo's Mel Tillis before he became popular. One of the songs that I did was the Auctioneer Song. This was in the late 1950's and the 1960's. I thought that Ray Price had the best country music voice. His range was incredible. I would not even attempt to play the modern country music now. When I played, if you knew 3 or 4 chords on the guitar, you could play any country song. I enjoy Saturday nights on RFD TV. Crook and Chase are on at 7:00pm edt, followed by the Music City News Awards shows, Midwest Country, the Big Joe Polka Show, and Ralph Emery. Most of the songs sre the older country songs, and I get out my guitar and play along. I'll try to keep in touch with you as I'm sure we could talk quite a while about our experiences. I'm a "little" older than you, so we are from the same era. Happy Trails, George
