Do you think graffiti is art or vadalism?

I do graffiti and its a art! I know it seems like Im just saying that because I do it but its really a art. Yeah I admit certain places dont need to be sprayed on thats why i dont spray on them but its a art people dont always express their creativity the same exact way and for people to say that the way that others express themselves is a crime is just wrong.

Graffiti is an art which like every good thing in life, if it is used wrongfully only serves to destroy. I think that these artiste are just so creative one just cant help taking note and spending time to dicipher the meanings behind some of them. It is beautiful but can be made ugly.

In situations where a graffiti artist has been given permission to create tasteful art, it can look great but when people have just come past and drawn their stupid tags on the wall that no one else understands anyway, that's just ugly and disrespectful. It also shows how unintelligent the idiot is who did it. I believe graffitiers that are caught graffiting (spelling?) should be made to clean graffiti off walls and fences for 8 hours a day, in the hot sun and they should also pay for the solvent and other materials that are needed out of their own pocket. Maybe then they'll have a bit more respect for people's property and also council property that I have paid for with my taxes.

graffiti is both art and vandalism like you stated it looks good in the proper places. it can also lower values and overall appeal in others. and tagging is just defacing surfaces and in most cases is unattractive.

Here in Connecticut one city is planning on putting up one huge concrete wall (I don't remember how big exactly but it's really big) just so that people can put up graffiti on it instead of doing it on the city's buildings. I think it's a great idea. I enjoy looking at graffiti. I do think it is a type of art and some of it is beautiful. There are a lot of young people that do graffiti who are very talented.

it is kind of nice if put up properly in proper place but excess of them everywhere around in public places makes the city dirty! i think it's both!!
