Kids wearing shorts when it is cold what do you think?

It got really nice here this weekend and got in the high 60s this morning it is only 30 degrees out and I saw a number of children getting on the bus in shorts and a tshirt. My first thought was oh my gosh they have to be freezing then my next thought was oh they will all have colds next week. Do you let your kids wear shorts when it is cold? We have a rule in our house that no one can wear shorts till it hits 80 degrees outside. My kids have known this rule all their lives so they don't even bother asking any more. What about you what do you think about kids wearing shorts when it is cold outside?

Well I just don't let my daughter where shorts if it under 60 degrees outside because she sees me wearing them so she wants to,and if I can she can too.
I agree if it too cold in the moring I will not let her wear shorts to school.
I see alot of people who do let there kids wear shorts when its like 40 and I just think thats crazy.

Our school had a rule of when you could wear shorts. I don't remember the exact time, but there was a cutoff in the fall and then one in the spring for when you could start wearing shorts again. our mom wouldn't let us wear it until it was going to be pretty warm that day. sometimes in the mornings it would still be chilly but not too bad. I think as soon as it was going to be 65 for a daytime temperature then we were allowed to wear shorts. But we always left the house with coats on in the morning if it was cold. Our oldest is only 5 so we really haven't had this issue come up yet, but i will do the same thing for her.

No I would never let my child, if I had any, to wear shorts in the cold weather. Makes one think, what is the parent thinking of letting their kid go out in shorts when it's cold! It's another example of kids over taking the parents now a days. What the kid wants is what the kid gets which is wrong.

Working in a supermarket I am amazed what people dress their children in. Even in the middle of winter you will see children in shorts and t-shirts and even toddlers and babies seem totally under dressed for the biting cold of Ohio. I can honestly say maybe only 1 in 10 children have what I would call a "suitable" winter coat these days so shorts at the first sign of sun is no surprise though to me totally inappropriate!
