Now I have had a computer for many many years but I hadn't done burning of anything. I thought I would be able to burn dvds but I can't. I have a dvd drive but I am wondering if that is not what I need. Can you explain to me in easy terms what else I need to burn dvds?

A DVD ROM is a DVD Read Only Memory device, which is designed to read the data on a DVD. This is intended either for installing programs from a DVD or playing a DVD. You cannot write data to such a drive.
What you require is a DVD writer, which would be listed as DVD+R, DVD-R or DVD+/-R. You can purchase a DVD writer quite cheaply and they are very simple to install.

it's true that you have a dvd drive but if you don't have a dvd drive with writing capability, you won't be able to burn movies or any data to any dvd re-writable discs. usually the thing that you look for when you have a dvd drive that has writing capability is the RW at the end of the DVD rom just like this: DVD-RW. if it is just a dvd rom, then you won't be able to burn dvds. you also need a dvd burning software if you don't have one already. that's basically it.

your device manager said dvd-rom ts-h352c i think it should be dvd-rom rw ok do one thing which i do if i got the same problem. Install nero and write a blank dvd if nero write your dvd so it's a good and if it reject so it's only reader. 2. try to find RW it's on front of your dvd rom r for read w for write.
