how has the one you volunteer at been impacted? Where I volunteer at, we have had to cut Bologna, Hot Dogs, and we even had to cut out Cereal at one point. We have now gotten the Cereal back at the expense of the Hot Dogs. We have also had more people on average then before, getting about 50 families a week now. Some of the families are large at seven or more family members.
We are lucky that the local Food Lion and the other local grocery store donate things to be given out, because the budget for all the food banks in the whole county has dropped due to lack of funds and the increasing expenses to buy the goods we need.
We did get a great deal of help from the local high school, they donated well over 4,000 cans of food along with other things.

sure donations maybe coming in from companies, but the companies stop them when they find out what people recieving the food have been trying to do with it. A food bank, right across the state line in PA was getting bread from the Sara Lee company. That was stopped when someone was caught selling it for money from the trunk of the car they had. After it was given to them.
