I don't really pay that much attention to who directs a film as a general rule. There are two though I know I have enjoyed many of their movies and own several on DVD. They are Steven Spielberg and Richard Donner. Both directors have done some spectacular work. In my opinion they are top notch and have been doing work for many years now. Some of my favorites are:
Spielberg: MIB, Poltergiest, Jaws, Empire of the Sun, Twister to name a few
Donner: Lethal Weapon, Superman, The Lost Boys, LadyHawke to name a few

MIB is one of my favorites. I'm a big fan of Tommy Lee Jones anyways and he was great in that one. I even liked the sequel.

I heard that Harrison Ford has insisted that everything in the new Indiana Jones film be just as it was when he made the first three, even down to the whip. Apprently there are now some stupid health and safety laws which say he would not have been able to have the whip, but he has insisted.
So I would imagine that Yes, Spielberg is directing.

Tough choices out there.
Peter Jackson - Lord of the Rings
George Lucas - Star Wars
Ridley Scott - Alien
So these are probably in my top ten.
