Do you believe in rituals?

Many a times, however rational we are, we tend to follow some rituals or ceremonies just to appease our own self. It may be something like doing a particular thing even if it is not warranted. Without doing that we feel a sense of insecurity that something bad may befall on us. I do have this tendency - though not very seriously. If anyone has had this trait and had come over that, please write about it so that not only me, a good lot of people like me could be benefited.
