Thankfully none of my dogs have wanted to while I was on the toilet. All of my dogs though have thought they were lap dogs. I grew up with big dogs and they all seemed to think they should fit on my lap. Ever have a Bull Mastiff think he's a lap dog? Doesn't work believe me. Not sure why but they loved to try.

So funny - we had a bullmastiff about ten years ago and lots of my friends had them too - we showed him. Bullmastiffs sometimes just don't realise they grew up, so they still try to sit on your lap. The smart ones realise they're too big for that, so they just sit on your feet instead.

Hehe yeah he would sit on our feet as well. He would also steal the bed from me. He'd come in to the bed from the bottom and up against the wall. Once he got all up on the bed he'd put all four paws out and push. It was a twin bed, I'd end up on the floor. I didn't mind sharing but dang share it don't steal it. He was a good dog though and it wasn't a problem getting the bed back.

Not only can that get annoying for you but i would imagine that it's pretty annoying for guest too. When they are trying to have a conversation wtih you and your attention goes to teh dog. Maybe you could try to teach you pup a little independence and not be so needy.

I'm with you on this one. This sounds like a dog that doesn't have a life of its own. I guess we all own dogs for different reasons though. As long as no-one gets hurt, what the heck. Just because I wouldn't let my dogs come into the toilet with me, I suppose I have no right to say some-one else shouldn't do it. Nobody gets harmed, I don't have to think about it if I choose not to.
Some people don't like dogs hanging around. I've taught one of our dogs to 'Go the bed', which means he goes to a totally different room and doesn't hassle anyone. He's a biggish dog (a Pharaoh Hound) and can get in the way sometimes. He goes to our bedroom and gets to sleep on our bed, so it's a win/win situation for everyone.

I know the type.
My husband's Jack Russell would go with him into the bathroom when he had his morning read. We don't have the dogs anymore, but one of the cats follows him now.

Does it not get annoying? My sisters dog likes to lay in your arms on her back like a newborn baby its quite cute but man she stinks! she also follows you everywhere and trips you over that really winds me up!
