Bullying by management, supervisory or even colleagues in the workplace is a definite no, no. But we know it still goes on and always will. Have you ever been bullied (I am thinking verbally rather than physically), and how have you overcome the problem?

When I left school I earned a place on a youth training scheme, I was training to be a secretary in a brewery, so I was put on placement but had to attend meetings and do sessions with the group that were also on this scheme. There was one girl who took a dislike to me from the start and at every opportunity would make my life a misery, I remember going on an outward bound course that I had to go on and she and her cronies would not leave me alone, we were all 16 at the time. How I overcome the problem was I worked my socks off and made sure I got offered a full place job before her, and I did, I had only been on the scheme for 6 or 7 weeks when I was given a full time position and did not have to attend the scheme anymore. Being able to look down my nose at her was so sweet and she hated it, but she left me alone!!

I don't think I would call this bullying, but I did once have a boss that was bi-polar. One minute I was the best employee she could ever have, the next I couldn't do anything right - poor thing was that way with everyone, and like most bi-polar people did not see that she had a problem or needed medication. It got to the point that I would avoid her phone calls, avoid her office, and hated my what should have been one of the most fabulous jobs ever. I ended up giving notice and finding a new position.

Yeah, I feel that I have often been bullied at many different jobs. There's always someone who is close with the boss or management who likes to be a bully. I am an hourly employee, so it's easy to get me in trouble because we are treated as less of an employee than someone who has benefits. Basically, I just laugh, sometimes right at them, or behind their back. Eventually, the situation changes and I won't have to work with that person any longer.
I've also noticed that people who have bullied me have also bullied other people and one day, they bully the wrong person and will be punished for it.

i know that it goes on everywhere but i don't ever remember it happening to me personally...because most of the people that i work with i have known for awhile and where we grew up you stick up for yourself when someone says something and basically no one bothers you...i mean like i said i know that it goes on and all i would know to do about it is just to stick up for yourself and maybe they would see that they couldn't get away with it...
