Do you borrow things from your neighbor?
I do. Well, actually my Grandmother is my neighbor. So it is okay to borrow from my neighbor. She stays a few houses away from me (walking distance). But I'm talking about borrowing things such as a cup of rice if you need like one cup to complete your meal but you don't feel like going to the grocery store which is about 30 minutes away. Or maybe you might borrow their shovel or rake to do some yard work.
We are always borrowing things from each other, but we don't make it a habit. Its nice to have someone that lives near you that you know very well and can trust. Because they can look out for you, watch your house while your away, or you can borrow things from them. So, do you borrow things from your neighbor? Do you know them well enough to borrow things from them?

I've been staying in the new housing area for more than 3 years. Frankly speaking, I am not really closed to my neighbors and I have not tried borrowing things from them so far. We always greet each other when we see each other, and sometimes we chit chat a bit, but we do not really have close relationship. For those neighbors who stay opposite of my house, we don't even greet each other, it seems like we seldom meet each other, or they are just not really friendly even though I tried to smile at them.
I like the neighbors back in my hometown, perhaps people are more friendly in small town and also my family has been staying there for about 30 years, we have good relationship with the neighbors, we always share and help each other.

I always find it difficult to borrow things from neighbors or friends because if they turn me down i will feel bad. I love to live a life of contentment not to go around borrowing. Though most people are good at borrowing things, they can borrow salt and matches from neighbors. I discourage it personally.

I dont borrow anything from my next door neighbour as hes never there. I have never seen him in the 18 months that I have been in my flat.
Though I would like to know that the person next door to him I would be able to ask for things if needed but since I work in a supermarket I never run short. Since I live in a flat, I dont ahve a garden so no need to gardent tools.
There are a few people on the block that I would be ble to approach if times were really desperate!
Interesting topic!!

I dont know if he's on the go or works nights, whatever he does he's very quiet about it!!
Working in a supermarket does have it good points, I do my shopping in small bits - saves me having to do one big shop and struggle with about 50 bags on the bus lol
I dont get discount because the supermarket that I work for is that cheap anyway. Would be nice to discount sometimes but working is a bonus!!

From time to time I have been known to borrow things from my neighbor. We do try and not make a habit of it, but sometimes as pay back we will tend to share something we have that is extra as well. It does help to have a neighbor you can count on even when everything is not always going your way. And with the Economic issues happening around us these days sometimes it is better to ask for help sometimes just to help you out as well.

I don't borrow things from my neighbors because it's not my habit and I don't know them too well.

We do know our neighbors well and we end up borrowing from each other - tomatoes, eggs, rice, sugar, things that we make sure we returns as soon as we have the opportunity to go to the grocery to replenish our own stocks. It's convenient to have such neighbors because we tend to look out for each other :) We'd even send food to them if we're celebrating a special occasion and they do the same for us :)
Thanks for the response on my discussion!

I barely have any contact with my neighbors. I do have a friend who lives nearby in the same neighborhood though if an emergency were to come up. I usually have what I need to complete my meals and I am very particular about what I eat so things I would need are not likely to be at a neighbor's.
