i have naturally black/dark brown hair and i would love to dye it blue...but i really do not want to bleach it first.
do you think that using a semi-perminent conditioning hair dye will show on my hair? or if you have any tips on what i should do or use instead of bleaching.

Well done on not wanting to bleach your hair as it realy damages your hair. I doubt a semi-permanent would change your hair at all. It depends on the type of blue you are after, if you like a deep dark indigo then I would recommend Lush cacas noir. It will darken your hair but you will get a blue tint. It will also leave your hair beautifully conditioned, though the process is a little messy. I use the cacas to revitalise my hair condition and add some subtle colour to my dark hair.

Besides bleaching, there is not anything that you can do. If you put blue on your hair, a bit of it may show through. The only way you are going to get a nice blue shade is if you bleach your hair first.

You won't really be able to put a blue hair dye unless you use a very strong bleach on your hair first. It may do some damage to your hair too, but you could see a hairdresser and ask them for their opinion.
