kids and drinking

I was wondering what others think about teenage drinking. In my small town there is nothing for kids to do. We live 60 miles away from a big city. When I was a kid, we drove around and drank. There was no designated driver and we weren't careful by any means. I would rather see kids at a house party where their keys were taken away and no one could leave rather then how we used to do it. I know we all would rather not see kids drinking but I doubt that will happen. I know that we cant stop kids from drinking so I was just wondering if there was a way to keep them safe when they do drink.
