I've had many pet fish and I currently have a pet dutch rabbit. I got all my pets from local pet stores. Then again, I've also had pet insects, such as centipedes, fireflies and pill bugs...but that's if you can count them as pets. I found most of them around the house or in grassy areas. Enough about me, where did you get your beloved pets from?

Well let's see. I got my Cat well are son about 5 1/2 years ago. My sister found him on the side of the road. Someone dropped him off in the middle of no where. He was about 10 weeks old or so. He was sooo small and precious. My sister came over and said I don't know what to do with him and I said well I'll take him. And I fell in love with him and I 've had him ever since. All I know is that the people who owned him. Well abused him. He was sooo scared of my husband[bf at the time] and any men with hats and plastic bags. Till this day he's still a little scared of them. Poor thing was abused..... I just can't stand people like that. But through mylife most of the cats we found actually found us. They were all towncats or dropoffs. But we loved them anyway.

I got my first dog Lexus from a abusive house. My dog was very sick and the vet's didn't think she would live very much longer. I've had her for just over 5 years now. My cat max I got free out of the newspaper he's Siamese. I got him when he was 8 weeks old. He just loves Lexus. My little dog Kai I got her last year out of the newspaper. One of my friends brought me out there to pick a puppy. My black cat i adopted from a shelter in winnipeg.

You've got some interesting pets thee. The Dutch rabbit sounds especially cool. I guess we're pretty conventional since we seem to stick to cats and dogs. Right now, we have three cats and they all found us one way or another. As far back as I can remember, the pets have found us. Don't think we've ever bought one. We also usually don't have purebreds. Just alley cats and mutts but they all have good hearts and that's the only thing that's im-portant.

My first cat, Patches, came from the Humane Society at 8 weeks old. When she left for the Rainbow Bridge at age 20, Divot and Baffy came to me. Their first family was moving to England, and the cats couldn't go with them. Josie came from a shelter. Peaches was abandoned by her people and lived in a cage at a vet's office for 7 months before she came here. Paisley was tossed in a dumpster before she was rescued and came here. Arthur came from a home where the other cats picked on him and he wouldn't eat. So all my cats were rescued from something.

we get our pets from people who had puppies...our first dog (Lab) we got awhile back, then like 3 years ago when school had jus ended that day and got in to the car to go home and turned around and see a black lab sitting in the back..so i do not know where we got that dog..we ended up getting red of that dog a couple months ago (kept running out of yard..knocked over kid on bike)..then i wanted my own little dog so we went and looked at person house where they breeded a bunch of dogs, and i look and see 2 pugs and i've allways wanted a pug..but they were older and werent for sell..her sisters had dogs tho and i got a pug from there..and then like 3 months ago we got another pug from the first lady we saw.. so ya..we jus get dogs from people that have puppies..not from pet stores

I have 2 cats, 1 dog, 4 fish, 2 frogs and 4 hamsters. One of my cats I got from a shelter, the other was a stray. He was a kitten and noticed he kept wandering around my neighborhood so I put food out and eventually lured him to me. My dog is from a shelter. The 4 fish and 4 hamsters I saved. Some guy moved out of his house and just left them there. I'm surprised they all lived that long without care. He just abandoned the house with trash and junk everywhere. The fish water was so dark brown you couldn't see them and the hamsters were covered in their feces. They literally were walking in their mess. So basically I saved all of my pets.

I got mine from hubby's friend, when I got her she was thin and had trouble eating. Now she is healthy and eating all the time (which is another thing I have to watch for or else she will be too fat). I heard about pet store cruelty, you have to be careful where you get your pets from. If possible get them from animal shelter, animals who really need a good home. If I had the money I would get more animals from them rather than pet store. Browse mylot for pet store cruelty discussion, you'll see what I mean.

Most of my pets have moved in with me. I have 8 cats and all 8 came to find me. They arrived where I was living all skinny and in bad shape and of course I couldn't stand it and had to feed them and take them to the vet to get checked and fixed. And they have all turned out to be super cats. I did get my dogs from breeders. But one of them was a puppy and in a terrible place and I feel like I rescued her too. But I am very much in favor of everyone trying to rescue animals if you want to get a pet. The humane societies are full of animals that need homes. Don't know how you would rescue a fish though. Guess they would have to come from a pet store.
